Im going to be redoing my interior with some contour seats and some NOS red/orange fabric but putting a slight twist on it. My plan is to do the center of the seats in red/orange reading camaro, and the bolsters, side and backs in black. Should still pop like it did originally but not so in your face. I just wanted to see some pictures of either stock camaro contour interiors or owners own take on the idea. Not completely sure this is the route ill take but i really feel it should look good.
BTW im talking about the interiors that say camaro camaro camaro all over them.

Very NICE James. One question though...was your car originally the red/orange contour interior? Just curious because in years past i have seen a few silver 85 rocs on ebay with the red/orange contour interior. I always thought that color combo was very striking!

No one else got some nice contours they want to post up?
I posted a pic last year of a 4th gen SS that had the inserts of his leather seats done in the grey CAMARO fabric. It looked really good. I just couldn't locate the pic so a search might locate it.
wow i cant even picture that. sounds awesome. A bit retro but probably not overdone.

I have to say that interior looks awsome, those would look great in a third gen

WOW. That is very nicely done. Thanks for posting it up.

That is soooo nice, wish i had a set of them.
Ill be posting pics of my custom contour interior soon as well. Getting the drivers seat back on friday and then putting it all in. Should look sweet.

I've been collecting every picture I find of conteur interior's for the last year. I love that interior.
Thank you very much for posting those up. For that red one, im surprised that it has the red carpet too. Usually that interior got black everything else and red upper door panels and red seats. I will post pics of my Contour interior sometime late this weekend/early next week. Its not factory but its just as good if you ask me.
Edit..this is what i was talking about with the red interior. These are old dealer brochures. Notice that both sides have the contour seat like the drivers seat..not the way that production camaros got it.

I had some custom covers made for my '88 seats using NOS spectrum cloth for the inserts. I've since found some correct conteur seats but I'll need to have covers made for those as funding permits.
Nice!! Ill give a sneak peek at what i did. I used the genuine LSC front seats with the leg rest on the drivers side for my idea. Here is the drivers seat and the rest of the interior minus the drivers seat...not put all together so bare with me

Another Contour interior that ive seen. This one is another example of the black carpet, and lower door panels with the red/orange contour seats. I like this look better than the all red.

I found a Camaro in the junk yard that had the CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO print on in in Grey. It was pretty beat up but I managed to get the lower portion of the fabric. Now what to to with it is an other story.Originally Posted by scottmoyer

Maybe we should combine and form an informational thread dealing with them since it seems not too many people know the specifics anymore and im still learning. Specifics meaning what code you had to order to get that interior, the code for a power drivers seat contour, what colors were available (blue, charcoal, red, tan) and what years each was availible with pictures of each. I would assume that between us we have pictures of all the interiors or could get pictures of all of them...along with some peoples custom ideas of it. Maybe if its good enough have a mod make it a sticky or put it in the FAQ forum.

subroc: I don't have any info on the option codes. What I do have are many pictures I've found on the internet & some I've taken of cars at show's. I've also bought every seat & door panel I've found in junk yards, which isn't much, 1 3/4 sets of red seats & 1 red door panel. I have a scan from an '85 trim book too. Send me a PM, we can pool our resources & put something togeather.

John you are the man!! I was just going to email you too, to see if you had any more info on these interiors, like what years what colors were available (85 charcoal only is all i know). I also have one brochure for the transam conteur interiors and i might just add that to the info if only briefly. Did those go over the same year span (83-5)?
Now that i see what a red/orange one looks like in good shape it almost makes me kick myself for doing the custom route...almost.
Got one question though John. that last one..i have never seen the grey color before nor did i think they kept making that interior past 85. Is that a typo or is that year correct? EDIT: Just realized thats why you called it a custom. That looks good enough to be factory!

Ok just found a TON of info on these seats so im almost ready to put together a page about them. Only thing i need really is a good picture of the brown conteur interior (not the saddle one pictured above), and a good picture of the 1985 black conteur interior. The info i found also seems to think they continued making these into 86? Anyone able to confirm or deny that? I have not seen any of these interiors past 85. Found the info on camarosource.ca/php/camaro_info

Ya'....... It was called "Charcoal" in 83 & 84 but was really Red/Orange to anyone looking at it ! They also installed the conteur seats ( Whatch the spelling ! ) in the 82 and the 86 cars but they didn't get the "CAMARO" Fabric - they just used regular fabric for those years. I've got the 1985 black Logo fabric in my car, but It's not to stock specs; the fabric is custom and I used a pair of TA Conteur seats like Jim.

Here's what the 86 Conteur Looks like. I've got 1 of the 184 ! The Bolsters on the seat bottom and backrest are VERY pronounced on the 86 version. It was taken from a Sports Coupe - even though it was never supposed to get installed in a Coupe. ( another White book fallacy perhaps !?!?! )

Let me know if you are lacking any details when finishing your write-up Steve. I am pretty familiar with these things and might be able to fill in a gap or 2 in the detials !

P.S. The Grey was custom....... Someone bought the Black/Grey Fabric from me and when I heard he was using grey for the bolsters I was sure to get a pic of his finished interior !
P.S.S. The factory 83/84 was pretty cool - But I'm sure you like "Your" version much better !

Wow thanks John. Yea alot of the gaps got filled with the information in this thread as well as over at camarosource.ca. One question i do have for you though...were trans am conteur (spelled right now after much research) produced during the same run as camaro conteurs? Also, do you happen to have any pictures of an 82 camaro with conteur seats as well as an 83 or 84 with the brown conteurs? Those are the two that i lack to do a nice long thread detailing them all.
Also, about the "charcoal" interiors. I was a bit confused about that designation as well until i stopped and thought about it. Where i was looking they were calling them charcoal/burnt orange in 83 and 84. In 85 they called it red. I finally put the two together. In 83-84 it was called charcoal cause everything else in the interior was black (black carpet, black plastics, black headliner) but the seats were red/orange). In 85 the WHOLE interior was red. Hence why they just called it red in 85 and not in any other year.

You can clip the small 82 seat pics from this image:

Full sized:
http://members.***.net/berlinetta1/m...2Page15-16.jpg
I have never seen the Brown LOGO fabric install in a car or even in print,...... but, I actually do have some Brown NOS fabric left !
When it comes to the TA I don't have many answers at all. All 3 pairs of LS seats I've pulled from Birds they were all taken out of 84's. From what I remember the Firebird got both seats and the Camaro only got a driver side because Lear Siegler Co. didn't have enough storage capacity to support it.

Wow thats awesome John. Thanks so much. As for the brown conteurs i might just take an image of your NOS fabric and use that since yours seems to be the only stuff left. I know it exists but i cant find a single car with it..crappy condition or not.
Ok the history thread is up. It in the history forum. I will go back soon and add a custom contours section.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I was wondering if anyone you or anyone knew how many came with the conteur interior in 84? I recently picked up an 84z with that interior and have looked everywhere to find numbers for that interior and have come up with nothing.Originally Posted by JamesC

Im not sure on exact numbers but it is very very small. It was an expensive option (around ~$600?) and not many came with them.
This doesnt mean that the car is worth heaps of money though...

A pretty small percentage. It was expensive for the time and a love it or hate it kind of deal. There is a thread on here somewhere that i started a few years ago talking about this interior. Do a search for "camaro conteur interior" and you should find it.

It's really too bad that the Camaro line-up didn't get duel LS buckets !!!
