I have a 1986 Berlinetta Sport Coupe in the instrument panel it has the big gas gauge instead of the tach, and the temp, oil and voltage gauges are the warning light style. I got the actual tach with oil pressure, temp, voltage and small style gas actual gauges out of a 1985 Berlinetta sport coupe with the v8 my 86 is the V6 will these gauges work in my car if I just swap them out?

 

No it won't work with just swapping, you'll also need to replace the sending units for the water and oil. Plus since the replacement was out of a V8, the tach is going to be off some.

 

What does the sending unit look like?

 

And is their a way to make the tach compatible with the 2.8?

 

Your don't own a Berlinetta - you own a Sports Coupe. Your parts car is also a Sports Coupe. It says "Berlinetta - Sports Coupe" on the license plate holder because those are the cars that plate holder will fit on.

The parts car cluster itself is a plug & play installation. Once installed you will have to change a couple sending units on your engine like cdoyle said.

Yes - the V8 tach can be modified to read the proper RPMs for your V6, but it's really not worth the trouble. Just buy - or trade - for a V6 tach to save yourself a lot of grief, aggrivation, time & $$.

FYI: That chart simply describes what engine/tranny combinations were available in all cars in 1986. Since the V6 was only offered in Coupes and Berlinettas they are both shown as the only cars listed with a V6.

Unless your 86 has an interior that looks like this - you own a Sports Coupe.

ANY auto parts store can get the sensors you need. Just specify V6 Temp and Oil Pressure Sending units for a GAUGE cluster.
