Im looking to buy 3 point seatbelts for my camaro. Now im thinking of putting in 3 point no retractable seatbelts. My question is are they as safe as the retractable ones? whats your opinion

Re: Universial Seatbelts

they are safe as long as you adjust them tight! but since they are not DOT they are not street legal...

Re: Universial Seatbelts

they say Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) #209 & #302 Approved!

Re: Universial Seatbelts

I'm not sure if those would be DOT legal or not but I'm sure they are more safe than stock belts and probably a whole lot more uncomfortable. No movement what so ever...

I replied in your other thread about the same topic:

why aftermarket instead of some original 3rd or 4th gen belts?

Re: Universial Seatbelts

Well this one was about this specific belt type. The reason for replacing it with this belt instead of the 3rd 4th gen seatbelt is because i can't find them for the price that i can afford atm with all this cali smog and such that i have failed so far

Re: Universial Seatbelts

try the classifieds on camaroz28.com and ls1tech.com. there are always 4th gens being parted out on that site and you can get belts for a decent price. Be aware that you need to get matching retractors and receivers for compatibility.... I know that LS1 cars and LT1 cars had a different shape "metal insert" for lack of a better term, so they used different receivers. Both were probably different than the 3rd gen ones. Do you need just front, or do you need rear too? I have some rear lap belts from a 3rd gen that I would sell cheap and might even have some front 3rd gen retractors and receivers around in ugly but functional condition if you need something to get you by and pass inspection.

Re: Universial Seatbelts

awsome ill check out those sites, I need all 4 around, the front 2 are top and bottom retractors and the back are top retractors but none of them have the lock feature when pulled on hard, or atleast it wont work.
