EPIC find at the junkyard!!!

So last Saturday, I went to a junkyard in KC, KS and what do I find, a 1982 (I think) TransAm! Opend the door, and I spy a **** on the side of the passenger seat. I started getting excited, so I ripped the cheapo wally world cover off the driver's seat, and lo and behold, sitting in front of me, was a set of the Conteur seats! The covers are bad and both need re-upholstering, and they will be finding their way into my 1991 Z28 vert when they are done.

Also popped the hood to see the holy Crossfire (aka Turdfire) engine, and it was mostly complete! Snagged the solenoid that opens/closes the air induction and the CFI emblem off the aircleaner. This car even had a set of nice 82-84 tail lights, but one side looked "smoked" and the other side did not. If they both would have matched, I would have grabbed them and the middle part for my 88 GTA.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that good finds are still out there, so never stop looking. Between finding a 15th anniversary TA in a yard and snagging the Recaros out of it (which were also complete), and these Conteur seats, I've had a decent past few months. BTW, car had a blue interior.

The twins are pretty rare. More on them from me in Subroc's link.

Re: EPIC find at the junkyard!!!

It would have to be an '83 T/A to have a CFI engine and LS Contour seats. For some reason the LS seat was exclusive to the Camaro in '82.

Did the car have any other interesting options?

It had the rear folding lockable cover. Nothing else worth noting, I honestly didn't even look for the knee bolster on the side of the center console. It didn't have a fiberglass hood. If it did, and it was good, that would have come home with me too!

Oh! It had a MINT dash pad, must have been swapped in, it was the later style. I pulled it, went to load it, and it cracked right in my hands. I was pissed!

Re: EPIC find at the junkyard!!!

Trans am's never got fiberglass hoods , the solenoid you pulled is a waste of time for two reasons: It's probably broken , if it's not failing it will.
