Hey everyone, My hatch hasnt worked since i bought my car in 2004. Now since i discovered that it leakes horribly bad and rattles like a sin when you are driving, i have decided i want to fix it.

This is what i found:

The previous owner butchered the wiring, and i dont know where to start.

What is that second ground for?

can anyone tell me if this is even salvageable provided the motor still works?
There are a few wires that were cut and twisted together and i dont even see the plug for the motor there...

Re: Help me solve my hatch motor problem
I guess I will point out first that your actual motor is missing. Go to top down solutions web site and you can see a picture of a compete unit. You could get the remote hatch release to work but it looks as though you were also correct and that connector is missing. Get ready to drop some serious coin to make it work again.

^^^

yea i noticed that too

i just had to buy a whole nother one from a autoparts store for only 135

It had stopped working one day, and since i was fed up about just paying $135 i took mine all the way apart and just started sorta fooling with the parts and such on the bottom that makes the unit go up & down, i plugged it back in and it worked perfectly

you might need a big toolset though, there were alot of different bolts on mine

Re: Help me solve my hatch motor problem
you can see a white plug in pics 1 and 2, what is that for?

I guess i would have to somehow get a new plug and splice it on the wires i assume then.

Why would somebody do this to a motor?

Re: Help me solve my hatch motor problem
The white plug goes in to the reversing switch on the actual motor. If you do a search on here for hatch motor you will be able to find a pic of the conector that plugs in to your remote release solenoid. Also PM Lonsal on here. He is the hatch motor god and he runs top down solutions.

Re: Help me solve my hatch motor problem
Besides the above, the nylon slides are missing from the tracks. Dowmload the instuctions from TDS and see what is missing. By the pictures almost the entire hatch motor assembley.

Thats what i would do man

i live in small topeka kansas but i was still able to have a autoparts store order one for me

they said it would be 2 days, and to my suprise in 2 days i was contacted with my part

plus it was only $135(but i have the plastic model) it was still cheaper than all the ones i looked at on the net
