Old School Dash Emblem?
I was thinking about some ways to make my camaro different than others and give it a personal touch.
I was walking around a local auto swap meet a few weeks ago, and saw a 69 Camaro fender emblem for $20.
I bought it for giggles to have something from the coolest year the camaro was made.
Then I sat around thinking... like the old muscle cars, wouldnt that be cool to replace the stock plastic dash emblem with a metal Chrome Camaro emblem from the 69 camaro in cursive writing?
Has anyone else done this before?
If not, does anyone have a pic of a dash with the emblem removed? I am wondering if the pattern in ther plastic is smooth behind it, or if it maintains its pattern.
Here is a pic of the emblem I am thinking about putting in the dash. I dont want to wreck the dash, so I am going to have to think of a way to do this without drilling holes.

Re: Old School Dash Emblem?
im gonna do the same thing lol. getting a full set of emblams from a 69 camaro, gonna do the rear bumper, both fenders, the one on the corner of the hood and the one on the dash. I love a retro look. and yeah i def agree with ThePain lol GLUE THE BITCH!! just make sure you use the right glue and dont screw it up
Re: Old School Dash Emblem?
Wow. That is how you're gonna be "old school" and "different" ? You're gonna get a '69 Camaro emblem and glue it to your dash?
This place cracks me up.
Want to really be different? Don't bother gluing sh*t to your dash.
Glue your eyes to these two web sites:
http://www.fiberglassforums.com/
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/index.php
And make yourself a custom fiberglass or steel dash. Then you'll be different.

Don't glue it, it'll look like ****. You might as well try and use the mounting holes that are already there. Or, mount the emblem in a way that will hide the holes.

Re: Old School Dash Emblem?
Here is the final outcome...
Turned out pretty good. There were 4 mounting studs on the back of the emblem and I ground off 3 of them leaving 1 in the middle I used to mount to the dash.
No glue was used, and so far its holding up great. I might try someting to stablize the emblem from possibly moving but its actually pretty stable already.
Thought I would post a pic for anyone that was curious how it turned out.

Yeah I will go out there one of these days and get a better pic.
yeah you can see the holes a little, but you dont notice it as easy when your in the car... I am thinking of a way to fix that... they just barely creep out the bottom of the A and R.
