Front Drivers Seat

I have a '92 ragtop, the car has leather interior. From the years of sitting in it the drivers seat leans back more then the passenger seat. It's is at about a 55 degree angle. I have some serious lower back problems and driving in the position causes me lots of problems. Is there anyway to get the seat's back to be a little more upright. The seats are not power seats. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

So you can't reposition the seat back?

No it won't lock in a more up right position. I thought it would but no luck. I hate selling it, if I can't drive it. New top, paint, weatherstripping, carpet, cooper cobras just to name a few new items.

Perhaps you should consider replacing the mechanism. There are thousands of them in the bone yards.

Re: Front Drivers Seat

My '82 T/A had the same problem. Sometime in the past someone rather large must have owned the car and the seat back latch mechanisms got twisted and bent up. Replacing them fixed the problem. The seat back should be about 80 degrees at the max up position.

Re: Front Drivers Seat

It's also possible the seat frame has broken. Remember seats are a safety item and need to be in good repair.

Re: Front Drivers Seat

i have a bad back and i would not get rid of my 90 so i spent 450 and bought leather seats, including a 6 way drivers seat with lumbar support. you can get them all over the place. a nice upgrade and good on your back.

Re: Front Drivers Seat

Thanks everyone for suggestions. I put a lot of money into my "92 rag top over the last 2 years. I'll try finding the seat mechanism at a local u-pick yard. Thanks again.
