as far as i know they only made t-top bags for our cars. they are black leather with GM stamped on them. they have straps that come out of them that connect to the metal loops in the hatch, hell just google it

Re: t top straps?
the person may have removed the two strap holders at the back of the car right behind the tail lights and installed a hard top interior panel that won't have holes for those two brackets. To my knowledge, if you got t-tops from the factory, then you should have 4 brackets to hold a bag, although it seems like not all came with bags.
What you should have in your car is two brackets screwed into the axle hump in the cargo area, and then two more brackets on the filler panel that holds on the tail lights (inside the car). A bag with four hooks will hook into those brackets and hold the t-tops in the bag.
I do have to wonder though, i found a 91 firebird owner's manual, and it shows pictures of a t-top holder in the trunk like a 4th gen, yet i've never seen anything or heard anything about them being made for a 3rd gen.

The bag's empty and it's only hooked at the front, but it should help clarify. One of the back hooks you can kinda see towards the left in the picture, it's the black mark in the rear trim.

Re: t top straps?
Put the t-tops in the bag, there should be some sort of layer in there that goes between the two tops, zip it up and hook each little metal hinge onto the black loop like I did in my awesome work of art.

The holes are tiny and unnoticeable. I removed mine to make a raising platform with the old screw holes to get clearance over my subs, and i lost the holes for a bit.

Re: t top straps?
until you get a bag you can store them in the trunk using the little (well). I had to do this the other day bc my tops had to be off and the bag was at home. Just wrap them in a cloth or something and lean them towards the front and you wont have to worry about them

Re: t top straps?
Ok,… I must be a special kind of idiot.
This is my second third-gen camaro with t-tops. The first one didn’t have the bag so I always just set the tops in the well with a beach towel between them. The one I have now has the bag, but even though it has pictures inside the bag, I just can’t figure the damn thing out. I think I might be missing some hardware to go to the bag.
Will someone please post a pic of how they should look inside the bag? I tried to google/search but I have had no luck.

Well post what you have since I'm feeling too lazy to take mine off. I'll let you know if you're missing something because it is pretty simple once you read the instructions so I'm guessing you might be missing something.

Re: t top straps?
Its pretty straight foward, but i may be doing it wrong. Before removing the tops open the hatch, unzip the bag completly, and pull back the top of the bag with the fabric separator and sit it on top of your back seat. Now take a top and place it with the locking handles facing down and toward the rear of the car. Take the separator and lay it on top of the top, then take the other top off and place it reverse of the other top. Lastly zip it up and clip the hooks into the two slots. I have not had my tops out in a couple of years, so my info might be rusty.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't a picture posted on here already that had red arrows pointing to all the metal attachments bolted to the car and all?

Re: t top straps?
Well, i think i got it figured out,.. lol.
I guess the thing that I was getting hung up on was that the latch sides of the tops were hanging over the well and I'm worried about them getting broken if I hit a bump or something. I think I'd feel better about it if I had a cover over the well. Guess thats something I'll have to work on,... I think it would be nice to be able to hide things a little easer too, so people can't see my stuff as they walk by.
Thanks guys!

Re: t top straps?
Ok, so i guess the one i bought did not come with the adjustable straps they were taken off. He is willing to send me straps to a 91 Camaro bag. Will straps to a 91 bag work on my 86? Im thinking it will, i dont think anything changed, just wanna make sure because he is offering a full refund or he can send me the 91 straps. Thanks again.

Re: t top straps?
Hmmm...my experience here is not vast. But all the bags I have seen...the straps are sown to the vinyl t-top bag. I'm not sure how he can send you just straps.
My experience is just with the GM t-tops. Perhaps the bag is different with C&C tops?
Anybody?

Whatever you do, make sure you secure the tops in the rear. Unsecured T-Tops in the hatch area become frisbees if something bad were to happen.
Get the straps and mark where you need them attached, then take them to a leather/upholstery shop and have them sewn on.

The reason why there was no hooks or bag in some cars might be because the car did not have T-tops from the factory, they might have the C&C tops.

I think the c&c tops are small enough to fit in the trunk well, not sure.

You might be right... I know they are definitely smaller.. I somehow want to think there was something at the bottom of the well that they snapped into, but I do not want to claim something I do not know for sure.

We would almost have to have a C&C owner chime in at this point.

Re: t top straps?
C&C cars were factory hardtop cars with the roof cut off so those cars had no provisions in the hatch area for the stock GM T-Top bags. ( no hooks thru the rear hatch panel or on the hatch "deck" )
I had a pair of C&C bags years back,... C&C Tops had a separate bag for each top. ( kinda' like the 2nd gen T-Top bags IIRC.) They had no straps on them and no way to secure them in the hatch. Pretty sure that they just got stored in the hatch well.

The 2 bottom / adjustable straps on all GM bags can be removed by pulling them back thru the buckle leaving only the 2 non-adjustable hooks at the top of the bag in place.

Here is a ridiculously overpriced pair of them on eBay, but at least you can see what they look like.

Yes, looks like someone just sewed together some lined plastic sheeting.
If those are what c&c supplied, no wonder no one has them anymore.
I could do better than that with my limited upholstery skills.

Re: t top straps?
I have a set of the bags. They aren't as bad as trash bags, but they aren't anything to get excited over. You could easily make them with a few yards of padded vinyl from JoAnn Fabrics or something. They are nothing close to the original GM bags. They don't have any velcro to close the flaps and they don't have any provisions to secure them in the car. I can easily see why people just tossed them to the side when they removed their tops.
