2800 to reupholster interior. fair or not?
I was quoted 2800 to re upholster all four seats, headliner and door panels in leather or 2000 in vinyl. Is this a fair price? I want to go two tone grey with black highlights. I have a 91 z28 all grey interior. He will also redo padding. I've seen his work and his seats look awesome.

If you saw his work, and it is good as you say, then you have found your shop. I searched for 3 years, going to car shows and asking owners who did their's, and one shop kept being repeated, the one I used eventually. I couldn't be happier with the quality and experince.
The price you were quoted wasn't to bad, the materials are expensive and there is a lot of labor involved in sewing seats together, fixing/padding headliners and door panels.
Here is a link to mine: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2458649/3
The seats were made using patterns of what I wanted, cut from red and black cloth and sewn together. They fixed the foam and welded a bracket to correct the seat. Additionally, they made my door panels and recarpeted the whole car. The headliner was a diaster, they ordered a plastic one and sent it back as soon as they got it because they didn't like it. So, they took all the fabric and padding off the cardboard original one, and used some old craftmanship to fix it.
Once they had all the materials and we sorted out my ideas, they had the car stripped of the old interior and the new one installed in 8 days. They did an awesome job. And, to answer your question, I have $3100 in mine.
Keep us posted.
