So I'm finishing up my interior and as I'll be going on to my engine next, I want to add some gauges.

So I've been looking at Gauge pods. I like both the Pillar and the Dash but I really would like feedback from the people that have them, I know a lot of you have them.
Do you like your? Do you regret them? If you have both, which do you find easier to keep an eye on? Over all just tell me what you would tell yourself before you got them.

i have a full pillar pod. i like it. alot of people have it though. i like the look of gauges in the dash if they are done right. i might throw a couple there too. i also like the way a gauge looks right by the window switches. what kind of gauges do you have / want?

I'm not sure what you mean by dash gauge pod. Do you mean on the actual dashpad? or in replacement of your oem ones? Eitherway I have the 3-pillar pod. I have a nitrous pressure, fuel pressure, and air/fuel. I like my gauges. I think the one and only complaint would be that the bottom gauge actually touches the dashpad. My pod is from Autometer... I saw a thread a while back where someone molded a 3gauge pod on top of the dashpad which didn't look that bad...

I like the pillar ones but the dash depends where on it.

It would be on the dash pad in the center or above the vents near the center of the dash. You will not be able to see the dash pod from the outside cause of the cowl hood. I'll attached a pic of the dash pod at the bottom of this post that I would be using.

I see you guys like the pillers but how easy are they to look at while driving?

I see what you mean. The pillar pods are just as easy to look as your rearview mirror is. So depending how you look at your rearview should be the same way you'll look at the gauges. I'm the type of person that doesn't really have to move my head to look. I can just glance with my eyes. So its definitely not out of the way or anything....

i got a dash pod for a mitsubishi evo that was right hand drive. cut it a little to fit from the back and a little on the sides. then turned it upside down and mounted it under the center a/c vents.

Either way ill add that I have the full pillar gauge as well and i love it. Like said the bottom gauge just bearly touches the dash pad but its nothing to sweat about. It looks like it was a stock part...i even had a guy at a show ask me if that is a stock part...i laughed and said no!...Either way i got the A/F ratio, vac/boost, and trans temp. They all match my interior lighting perfectly(kind of redish organgish kinda lol. I went with the carbon fiber ones cause thats what i wanted. I dont like the black or white faced ones...idk just not my taste...to me they are too bright or too dark if you know what i mean.



Either way i have future plans of replacing the actual dash gauges with all carbon fiber ones also. That way i have a full collection of all the gauges(and they will be a lil more correct then whats there now haha). My only complaint is that they dont make a wideband carbon fiber gauge. Im going to call autometer tho and see if they can make a proto type for me or something and ill pay for it. Im sure it wouldnt be hard for them to make at all!

I have a tri-pod on the A pillar in my 86 for about 10 years and I love it. Looks factory.and no different than looking at my mirror. I wish I could find one for my hardtop that would be a full one.

just punched in gauge pod on ebay abd started looking. but at the same time new i wanted one that went underneath the a/c vents. ones for the left drive pointed at the pass side. so i started looking at the other side drives.

I have the full pillar pod. Right now Im running wideband, fuel pressure, and vaccuum. Vac is just a space filler basically.

When I first got it, it was because it looked cool, and I worked at autozone, so I got everything at a discount. It was a little distracting at first. But now I dont even notice it, unless I need to glance at a gauge. When I do, its really easy to see them. Perfect in my opinion.

If you can mount them cleanly, like one92rs, then it looks good on the dash. Nothing bothers me more than gauges mounted randomly, just screwed into the dash. Cant go wrong with the Autometer stuff though.
