4th gen rear belts won't work in an 85' w/o cutting out the shoulder harness mount from an 89+ car and welding it in. An 85 only has lap belts in the rear.

I did 4th gens up front but left my rear lap belts alone. There is a thread somewhere on here regarding retrofitting 4th gen rear belts.

I've been told that the late 90's and earlier 2000 rear seat belts from a Cavalier will match the 4th gen belts really well.

just to clarify, when I used these recievers I had to pull from 2 different cavaliers (passenger side) because of the angle of the mounting bracket.

I can't get the pic to post but here's a link:

*Note the angle on the mounting bracket for the reciever (pic is of 4th gen belts I had but the reciever's angles are the same)

EDIT: this is just for the recievers the belts themselves will not work

Racing Geek how'd your install turn out?

There must be 2 different styles of 4th gen front belts. The ones I have won't fit into the thirdgen latch or receiver. My brother's LT1 belts would work but mine must be from an LS1 or 2001+ LS1. The metal prong on the belt is too wide. I have a simple solution to my problem, get the same style receivers.

yeah there are 2 styles, the belts I installed were from a 93' camaro. the rear buckles were wider then the 3rd gen ones, that's why I went w/ receivers from a cav.

I used the ones from a 96 and modified them, worked out great.

Re: Third Gen/Fourth Gen Seatbelts

FYI: This is a way to fix the "gaping hole" in the sill plate that is talked about in the link eklipse38 posted. I've repeatedly asked that my solution be added to that tech article, but my messages seem to fall on deaf ears.

My post is at the top of the page linked to below. You use 82-83 sill plates and they fit perfectly with the 4th gen belts. I posted a pic of my car with the sill plates and 4th gen belts. Took a couple of months to find some 82 sill plates, but got them for $6 for the pair at my local U-Pull-It.
