Dome light

Today i was putting in my new speakers in the sail pannels and i realized that my dome light wasnt on i was just wondering how to get the white plastic cap off to see if its burnt out or if i hit a wire somewhere. Also the wire that runs up to the dome light where does it run to from the dome light?

Re: Dome light

just grab with fingers and pull the white cover off.

its tab clicked into place into the black dome lamp base housing,

the orange wire to the dome is full time hot

the white wires run through many things including door switches and headlamp switch/interior lamps dimmer rheostat assembly and sometimes a timer control module is involved, and it goes on from there.,.,.,

the white is switched source ground.,

fuel sender guages circuits work the same basically, hot all the time with ign switch in run position though, and ground controlled by components.

its kinda complicated and i cant explain it any better than that

most ppl dont understand the dome lamp circuitry and how it works, many different components are involved with it and its just too much to type.

probably are lots of pages out there with pics and long descriptions about it

check your interior lights fuses, or test light the orange wire it should be hot all the time., if not then you got a broken wire or bad fuse, or something else. see if the white wire is grounded good with a door open, if not then you got z broken wire or bad door switch or bad connector somewhere.,

Re: Dome light

Are the lights in the floor still working? And to remove that cover, all you have to do is mash the sides or back in a little bit (depending on where the little clips that hold it on are) and pull it off.

Re: Dome light

How about using the dimmer switch for the gauge lights? Does that turn them on when it's all the way up?

Re: Dome light

I doubt it's the bulbs. It's either a short or the fuse is blown.

Re: Dome light

Shouldn't be anything in the sail panels, but behind the radio there might be, but when it comes to which wire, I have no clue. XD
