So how does this damm interior dome lamp secure on?
I have found the missing dome or interior headlamp and can not figure out how it secures. I do not have the cover but just the actual black peice or base as I would call it. How does it secure? Are there special nuts that are put over the 2 studs?
Thanks.
Thanks.

You need two tiny speed nut, like these :

In my T/A someone used small zip ties and cut the excess, it held very well.

You can get a pack of various sized speed nuts at any auto parts store in the HELP! section for about $3 - there will be the right size in there.

Nope - not the same thing. Those are more like the things that hold the screws in the shifter plate, radio bezel, etc.
This is it: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...mString=search
They are called push nuts

I Love you. I found the whole lamp assembly in my crap bin. Saved myself a yard trip. I am going to go pick them up now, Damm headliner is sagging from not having the lamp on.

I'll take that as a manly "I Love You", ok?
Save that link to the Dorman site - it's a great resource! Not always will the parts stores have everything, but everything is catalogged on their main page - they sell thousands of products like that, little obscure things. And if you find it in the catalog online, then Autozone (or others) can order it for you by product number.

You have no idea, I was gonna make a 50 min yard trip to just get another lamp with mounting hardware.

Why bother spending $10 bucks...............
If the stud part is still left in the ceiling holes just take a pair of vice grips
and turn them back and forth and pull them out.
Then scrounge up 2 small self tapping screws or similar and mount your dome
lamp base. I just did this when I replaced my missing dome light.

Well the packet from autozone was a dud. It had 2 pairs which looked like they might fit but it would only go about 1cm in
I will try it Jaab, I think I have a few extra tapping screws around her.e

You have to be gentle - the plastic housing becomes very brittle after years of getting 'cooked' by the light (another reason to swap to LED). Pry gently on the sides with a tiny (glasses repair) screwdriver, then get a pair of needle nose pliers on it and gently wiggle it off.

Like I said...............Grab hold of the exposed stud with vice grips and turn
back and forth and down. The stud and speed nut will come right out.
Prying on the speed nut will only break the plastic and the metal stud !
ASK me how I know !..............
Use 2 new self tapping screws to re-install the base.

I'm sure there is - seems to be one for everything these days.
But I wanted brighter interior lights! I ordered a 30 LED array from ebay - it's a square board that just fits inside the dome housing. I just cut the wires from the OEM light clips and connected to this - now I can actually see inside the car at night!

If you need another lamp housing I have 2 in good shape sitting in my garage. Where are you in Chicago?

Re: So how does this damm interior dome lamp secure on?
I tried pulling on the metal stud using some vice grips but it won't budge. I'm leaving metal markings on the studs from the grips. I'd say I'm applying a substantial amount of force (wiggling/pulling down). Any idea why these won't come off?

Those studs should of pulled right out pretty easily..................
How about prying off the speed clips then?

Re: So how does this damm interior dome lamp secure on?
I dont think they are supposed to "pull" out. I used small vise grips to unscrew them like a threaded stud. All the ones ive done come out easily that way. i have 2 in mint condition w/ studs. pm me if anyone wants one.
