B48 luggage Compartment Latch

I am putting in a luggage compartment cover in a car which didn't originally come with the B48 option.
I have located all the pieces except the piece on the rear of the car which the keyed lock latches into.
I am assuming there is a part that bolts to the rear sheet metal.
All the junk yard cars I've seen are missing this part.

Does anyone have a picture of what this looks like or how the lock is supposed to work?

I have the electric pull down hatch too (if it makes a difference).

Make sure the power hatch motor cover is specific to the B48 option as it different from the non B48 ones. The the luggage cover locks into the hatch cover.

How are you gong to attach the luggage cover? I remember some threaded nuts sticking out on the back side (below the gas tank) that the luggage cover secured to.

Re: B48 luggage Compartment Latch

To further clarify my question:

Along the edge with the 3~4 ft long piano hinge there are 2 brackets with studs that are spot welded to the rear compartment floor pan. I have cut these pieces out of a junk yard car and plan to pop rivet them in place in other car.

The new rear panel with the compartment ledge that I plan to use is the wider style and does have the pull-down motor. The hinged cover I am getting should also be from a car with the wider style rear plastic panel.

My question is in regard to the locking latch.
What does the little arm on the lock cylinder engage into?
I see there is a slot in the rear plastic panel, but do not see anything solid that would ride against the little arm.
Is there something that I am missing?

Re: B48 luggage Compartment Latch

There was a plastic piece that the latch of the lock would catch onto. I had one somewhere for the two cargo covers I have, but can't remember for the life of me where they are. I guess I should check my parts car before sending them off to the junk yard. But it's just a piece of plastic in an L shape that two bolts hold it onto the tail light panel in the back.

Re: B48 luggage Compartment Latch

OK, thanks.
Sounds like that is what I am looking for.

Does anyone have a picture of this?
(I may be able to fab one for the meantime)

There is also another minor little Snafu I ran into. I got the lock cylinder out of a '92 and am putting it into my '87 GTA. I cant get this cylinder re-keyed for my car because '92 is PASS key and '87 is not - locksmith says the blanks are different.

If anyone has any of the parts I need, please let me know.
