key in the ignition buzzer I think - been a few years since I was inside mine, but IIRC, it was the buzzer.

If by spring your talking about that little piece under it.That keeps the "switch" inplace by pushing it upwards. So when the key is inserted. It pushes down on center portion & the two brass contacts within the plastic body touch. This completes the circuit & the buzz is initiated.Easiest way to install it.Is to compress the spring While pushing it in.There is a small green plastic button on the bottom of the lock cylinder. This is the part that pushes on the switch. If you had the key in the ignition before trying to install the buzzer switch. The key would hold the green button & make it very hard to install th switch.
Either remove they key or put the ignition in "run" position, cant remember.I think there is a screw that holds it inplace, cant remember either.

Thanks, I'll try again when I get back into the steering wheel. The buzz is actually working fine without the spring tho =o
