Interior Ideas?
Interior Ideas?
Hey everybody, I know it's a first post trying to get some information, but I've been browsing around here for a while as an anonymous user trying to piece some ideas together for my '88 Formula. I've got most the details worked out already (90%) as far as drivetrain, exterior, and those things.. The one thing I'm kind of struggling with is how I want or how I should in fact set up the interior.
I really can't decide if I want to delete the back seat or not. The car isn't going to be a daily driver hauling a bunch of kids around, in fact the engine dictates much more of a strip only car, but it will certainly see its share of "street brawling"
I do plan on going with either an 8 point cage, or even a 10 for added stability considering it is a t-top car. And something basic such as the Jeg's pro high back race buckets will suffice for the front seats.
I had also considered going with all aluminum interior panels behind the drivers seat back. Including in the rear seat delete area should I decide to go that route.
And I have considered doing the entire floor section in aluminum, basically just leaving the factory door panels and factory dash.
While on the subject of door panels and dash I have put thought into the 4th gen door panels and dash as well as it seems to look a lot "sharper" than the 3rd gen interior, but is the amount of work to do the swap work really worth it? (opinions of those who have done it would be greatly appreciated)
I don't plan on making this interior look absolutely spectacular and flawless-perfect for car show events, as that is not the car's intended purpose.
Basically what it all sums up to is-
Does anyone have the rear seat delete, the aluminum interior panels previously mentioned, the 8 or 10 point cage, and the 4th gen door panels/dash? Or a combination/variation on any of these just to get an idea of how it might look. If you could post pictures showing the results that would be great.
Thank you for taking your time to read my first post as I know I rambled on quite a bit. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Here is an idea to add some storage if you remove the rear seats.

Re: Interior Ideas?
Yes it does from what I understand.
Just email the company to verify but I read in thread from two members who stated it worked fine.

Re: Interior Ideas?
What is the overall appearance of the outside of the car when finished?
I went to wyo tech over 20 years ago for automotive trim (upholstery) and have been doing it since then.
The worst mistake people make when doing an interior is mix matching styles.
If the car is going to have a rakish stance with the wider tires in the rear and skinnies in the front,
then an aluminum interior and racing seats with a whatever point roll cage is appropriate.
If you are going to lower the car and want a stereo able to loosen every bolt in the car a little when a good bass hit plays,
then dressing up the stock interior a little with more attention to the amp speaker section works well.
More attention to making the interior panels not rattle is a plus.
A friend of mine had his rear floorboard modified so he could run "true dual" exhaust.
he had the floorboard cut where the rear seats are and raised to accomadate a muffler underneath it!
He kept the backseat (modified) to keeep the interior factory looking.
Most are looking to go with a "pro touring" look. Power, Handling, Appearance and Comfort.
Until they find out why the pro touring cars are so expensive.
You said it is not going to be a DD, so are you looking at a track/street car?
Are you going to take long trips with the car?
Racing seats are not that comfortable for long hauls.
Most important is what your budget will allow.
Most people pour money into the engine, exhaust and paint first.
Then comes the suspension, brakes and rear end.
This usually leaves the interior for last - if they still have any $$$ left for it.
Is the color of the car going to bright or dark?
Do you want the interior to contrast or blend with the outside color?
It is your car, my opinion of what to do is not applicable.
Give me a more complete vision of what you want your ride to become.
Then any advice given would be applicable.

Re: Interior Ideas?
It's a "toy" weekend street brawler. Drag car. I don't want a "show car" interior as I stated previously, just a clean look to a re-done interior. No offense to anyone, but I feel like I should be sporting a ****** when I'm in the 3rd gen stock interior, haha. I don't want a sick sound system. I'd rather go fast or cruise with the t-tops off and listen to my cam through the exhaust note rather than "bump"
The car is "powder blue" i guess is the correct term.
Long hauls kinda pointless when you're running race fuel... don't see how anyone could afford that.
