Headliner??

I am getting back on my restoration of my 84 Trans Am. Started on it 7 years ago, got the engine and suspension done and lost interest. Been sitting in my shop since. Now I have to do the interrior and body. It does not have a headliner board. Is it possible to get one in decent shape. Been to the junk yards but they were all water damaged. Any ideas?

Get a new ABS one from A1 Auto or Hawk's.

shop around for the best price because the plastic ones are all the same. I got mine from stockinteriors.com along with new sun visors.

1A is a sponsor so if you find the product cheaper elsewhere, why not ask 1A to price match?

I converted my interior from grey to black panels, black plastic, black and grey leather seats and installed new grey rug and headliner

Is it a T-top car, and did you need the headliner, sail panels and sun visors or just the headliner.

Re: Headliner??

$340? A bit expensive....

Youngs F-body has them for $225, http://www.youngsfbody.com/inc/sdetail/288

Hawks has them for $269, http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ca...sunvisors.aspx

Both are complete sets with visors and sail panels.

shipping odd sized items is expensive. You need to add $50-$65 to both of those prices. You mis-typed, Youngs shows $255 so that brings both places total cost to over $300. That is why you should send a PM to 1A, the site sponsor and ask if they will price match.

Re: Headliner??

LOL I must have mis-read. Either way, $255+$50 is still less than $340. If the OP wants to try and get 1A to price match, that's perfectly fine with me, I was simply pointing out that there are less expensive options.

EDIT: And if 1A does price match, I will gladly go through them when it comes time to buy my headliner/sail panels/sun visors. Once again, I have nothing against the vendor, I was simply point out a more cost-effective option.

Re: Headliner??

just so you know....my fiberglass t-top headliner cost 125 dollars....to ship it cost 140 dollars.

get the shipping estimates on them then compare prices that way,you might be SHOCKED to find out how much that stuff costs to ship which might explain the price difference. especially now that all the shipping rates have sky rocketed. i just ordered some material from 1a auto... great service so give them a call and tell them what you found im sure they will work with you

exactly, if they both carry the 2 ounce hershey chocolate bar, and 1A is looking to get $1 and ABC company charges 75 cents, then unless 1A wants to meet or beat the price, they should expect the dollars to go to the competition. Both places are just resellers of someone else' product. You are looking to get the same item. That's why I now use streetsideauto.com as opposed to jegs or summit.

It's commodity stuff so price wins.

But shipping odd shapes is expensive and be weary of Ebay sales because sometimes the "shipping and handling" exceeds the cost of items

Re: Headliner??

Hey guys,

We thank you for all of your support, while we can't be the cheapest on every single thing that we carry. All of our parts do include free shipping on them.

So, the price you see on the site is the price that you pay; there aren't any extra fees. We try to keep things simple and if there's ever an issue with an order,we'll resolve it quickly for you.

but, if a site has a posted price and with shipping is lower, will you try and price match? I know it would be lower margins but it's better than carrying inventory; unless of course you are drop shipping from your supplier.

I'm all for supporting a site sponsor
