I was gifted an `85 Trans Am with no interior that I am currently trying to piece together to match my old one that I had almost 20 years ago now. It had red and gray interior, like this guys interior:

From what I understand, this is "Carmine Red with Graphite" interior. My plan was to buy seat covers and door panels from like Classic Industries or some place like that, and dye all the plastic pieces from what I have lying around and can pick up used. My question is what color code do I give them when I go to get the dye? Every time I try to give them a year and color, they say they need the code, and since this car originally had black interior, I can`t look on the door.
Also, if anyone is looking to sell any red interior pieces, please let me know.

they may not be exact due to the graphite not being there, but it gave a color code "72C"

I took a look at your site and the only think I am worried about is this:

"The colors of our seat upholstery is similar to the originals but may not be exact matches"

I already have the back half of the interior, including the rear carpet, all in the factory carmine red color, and I want to make sure it all matches.

That's why we send out free color samples.So that the customer can take the sample and hold it up to the interior of their car to see what it looks like.

Would the interior panels match the carpet and the seats if all purchased at one time, and could the door panels have the pattern/style above?

Hi Hawk,I have the same interior,by the looks of your friends interior it would be B20 Luxury Trim Group,witch consist of Luxury Seats,Frt & RR W/Cloth TR.Deluxe Seat Belts,Map Pocket,Luxury Doors,Split Folding RR Seat,Cowl Kick Panel-Carpeted.Now that's what my original window sticker says.Now my RPO codes are 72C,Trim Combination,Cloth,Dark Carmine(C),72I,Interior Trim,Dark Carmine(91),729,Seat Belt Color Dark Carmine(9),(91).I don't know what the C,9,91 mean.I just did my interior over and the seats are Pallax Cloth not valor and they were only available in 85 and 86 on the Firebird,Trans AM,and SE. I'm going with Classic on the upholstery they have the exact OEM replacement.I don't need door panels mine are in good shape.But I did go with 1A on the carpet it was the exact color it matched the door panel carpet perfect and I'm going with 1A on the T Top headliner,sails and sunvisers,their samples matched perfect.I hope the info on the colors help you out,Good Luck.

I was debating using the current 20% sale at classic to get all of this stuff, but man those seat covers are salty. I am checking out 1A and comparing. Did you get both the passenger and cargo area carpets, and did it seem to match the original carpet? Did you happen to find anyone that sells the correct carmine and gray door panels with the map pocket? I am having trouble finding them. I would love to see what yours looks like when it`s done!

Great,and yes I got both, front and rear carpets from 1A and they where a perfect match.I did get the mass backing tho it cost a little more but that is what the car came with originally and it is a good insulator.As far as the door panels I didn't need them so I didn't really look around for them.

If it was made from the same fabric. I do not see an issue with them matching.

Hi Hawk,did you ever get your seat covers.I just got mine from Classic and they are beautiful,fit like a glove.The Graphite is a much darker color than the original but the carmine trim is ***** on.I got in touch with Classic over the Graphite color and was going to return them,but I decided to call the manufacturer PUI and he sent a swatch of the graphite and it was the same as what was on the seat covers.So I called all the places that sell the seat covers and they all use PUI.So I sent a sample of mine to PUI I took it from under the head rest and it was almost just as dark as the seat covers that I bought from them,so I went ahead and installed them and they really look great.Now I'm waiting for a yard of graphite to finish the door panels. I wish I could send some pics,but I don't know how too.

Hey Manta, no seat covers yet. Can I ask how much u got them for? Do u think the color is accurate compared to what your original seat covers would've been new?

List for $489.99 plus I got a install kit+ ship&ins.then I used a 15% disc. that they were offering came to $470.89 total.As far as the match the Pallax carmine is dead on,but the Graphite is a bit to dark,I know after 25yrs. of fading and wear I might be wrong,I took a sample from under the head rest and it was just as dark as the ones I got,but it still looks darker.I uploaded some pics.in my file so you can see them their.I don't know how to move them here.

You are right. The Carmine areas look dead on....the color, the texture, the pattern, the details on the rears, all look OEM and 100% accurate. I`m not sure what to think of the graphite though. In the picture from the rear it looks *really* dark. Did Classic say it was the correct color for our year? I remember my `86 being more silverish, like the door panel gray (did they have matching door panels?). Do you see the pics up above in this thread? Does it look like it might match the color of the gray in those pictues?

Classic said it was correct as did PUI,but it is darker,they don't look like the picture in the Classic catalog,it seems like the gun metal gray is not their.In the sunlight they look like they have some gray in them.PUI said they do make the door panels,he wanted to sell them to me,but I don't need the whole panels,I just need the Pallax Graphite to match the seats,I'm waiting for them to be delivered.Like I said I called a few suppliers I think 1A and a couple of others I can't think of them offhand right now but theY all use PUI.and no I don't think it will match the doors that is why I'm get a yard of material for the doors.I'm the original owner and I don't think they faded that much,my daughter said they match the sample that I cut out from under the headrest I don't think that ever got sunlight under there.

Hi Hawk,just got back from vacationing in N.Carolina,got stuck their for a couple extra days because of the Hurricane,I have to say the seats look really darker than I expected,they look a little gray one way and a little darker another,but their definitely darker,I did the door panels with the came material (Pallax)and it looks real good.You can call some suppliers and ask if they use PUI, the ones I called did. Let me know.

I see this is an older post, but I happen to have an original, full interior including the door panels if anyone is interested. It was only in the car 2 years and has been in my garage on a shelf ever since. I purchased the matching, formed carpet at the same time (for a 1982 Camaro) and it has never been out of the box. The seats are powered but I cannot make a guarantee that they work since it has been sitting since the early 1990's. The parts are in Maryland so not sure how I would ship. Thought I would share.
