Corbeau A4 racing seat?
from hawks:
The dynamic A4 is the perfect application for tight spaces and minimal headroom applications. Standard features include: high-density injection molded foam, ergonomical design, harness belt capability, integrated shoulder, kidney and thigh support, leatherette high wear patches, and a fully adjustable seat back with a flip forward fingertip controlled lever for rear access. The A4 is extra aggressive in the kidney area and will fit up to a 36" waist.
questions:
are these good racing seats?
good for road racing applications?
pics of these installed?

Re: Corbeau A4 racing seat?
idk, i dont have rear seats so i dont need a reclining chair. These are abit cheaper and lighter that way. I put my seats on factory sliders, and I just happen to have power driver seat so I can get reclined if I really want it
Works great for me, I keep it slightly reclined. Passenger side sits rather straight up, i may space the front up abit to have it recline abit more. Its comfortable as it is, but would be abit better laid back some.

Re: Corbeau A4 racing seat?
Cut them up abit and installed tabs of sheet metal, forget the thickness but I think it was 3/16". Corbeau bolt pattern is wider and longer than the factory seats, so I just bolted tabs to the factory rails, that basically relocated new mounting holes for the corbeau base. BOlted to the Corbeaus and that was that

Scroth Rallye 3 harnesses. Only harness i know that carries a DOT legal certification. I may switch them out with a Corbeau 5pt harness with SFI legal certification for drag racing tho.

Fits great since it was custom installed. All the bars need trimmed obviously, and my buddy did a good job.

Re: Corbeau A4 racing seat?
its FAR from a bolt in weld in kit.... it comes with one halo bar for main support, and then a bunch of straight tubes. Really not a vehicle specific kit other than the main tube, but it had excess material on the legs that needed to be trimmed up

Re: Corbeau A4 racing seat?
Anyone try out the CR1 seat? Only 1lbs more than the A4 and looks to be a bit wider and more comfortable. I am going to go with the corbeau brackets since they are supposed to be a simple bolt in and should look nice and new since i'll be installing new carpet along with it (re-doing the interior this winter.)

Re: Corbeau A4 racing seat?
Why wouldn't these be good for road race? They have tons of side supports and are lightweight?

Re: Corbeau A4 racing seat?
Well if your going to roadrace in any competitive class then you would be required to run an FIA approved seat. No reclining seats however are FIA approved.
If by roadrace you just mean open track days or HPDE's then yes, They will give you the extra lateral support needed. You will still be stuck running a conventional seatbelt though.
If you run harnesses then NASA and SCCA will require you to have a roll bar. Subsequently if you have a roll bar, then they require you to run an FIA approved seat with a seat back brace attached to the cage.
So if you intend to run on a road course, and depending on what you intend to do on a road course, then you will need to pick your safety equipment wisely dependent on that sanctioning groups requirements. Otherwise you may find yourself not allowed on the track.
