I have them, but never use them. You remove the T-top, and mash the panel in place as T-top is being installed. Kinda ...
I don't think you have to actually fully remove the T-top - just unlatch, lift slightly to wedge the panel under the edges, and relatch. But again, I never use mine - just tried them out once, and that was the only way I could see it working.

I have them. When I lived up north they were great in the winter the car was much warmer. In florida now they keep the car cooler in the hot sun. They do give you a closed in feeling when you first use them. I remove my T-tops and place them in and put the t-tops back on. If you have new t-top seals don't bother trying to use them for at least a year, tops won't lock or fit in center cross bar.

Thinking about making some out of cardboard and fabric from walmart now that I know how it works. Thanks for replying to the thread guys.

Got mine from 1A Auto! Made with ABS not fiberboard! They have Velcro on the shade that attaches to the inside of the T-Tops. They fit better than the factory pieces!Originally Posted by Chevy86 IROC-Z

I have thought about making my own ...does anybody have dimensions of them
My 84 came with a set of shades that were aftermarket and made of black moulded plastic. They are one piece. You unlock the t-top and slide them under the top then lock it back down. There are no brand names on the shades.
The car came new and spent its life in rust free Winston-Salem NC and the shades were in it.

I still have my fiberboard factory originals, they just don't look too good after 22 years. The material is very loose and off color a little bit but the new ones from 1A Auto are waaaay better than the originals!
I just had some custom made. They were great on the Hot Rod Power Tour when my AC decided to go out. They helped keep the interior cooler by not allowing me to burn!! They fit very nice and look great when installed. Mine were made with double layer headliner material so they are nice and thick. The material is the same that was used when I had my headliner was done last year.
They are very nice. Had some Factory ones that worked great to keep the sun out, definatley makes a temp difference inside the car.
Used a beat up set to make my custom ones.

Sweet! What material did you cover them with? Looks thicker than factory.

I never even knew they made those for Third Gens. I've seen some for fourth gens at the junkyard. I wonder if I can make those fit.

Doubt it - 4th gen T-tops are not as square as a 3rd gen's tops, totally different shape/size.

Love NMformula350's shades. Still I thought for $12.99 at Canadian Tire I would live with these I made. Used 56"x23" windshield type sunshade. Make cardboard template 19"x25-27"(some creative freehand work needed for front contour) using a yard stick, pencil and a utility knife. Note notches on either end at the outside edge. Lay template on full sunshade and with a sharpie mark the outline. Use scissors to cut the shade. As mentioned in above thread, prop up a panel slide the outer edge into slot between glass and trim and inside edge lays on centre bar. Is ridgid enough to stay puy and I left the velcroed strap so when removed it folds accordian style and strap holds it.

I like!!!! I think Im gonna do the same, but with the glass side having the reflective material. I already bought some black fabrique to glue on interior side of my home made panels. Hopefully ill look like a clean install.Originally Posted by bedbed

Drawback w/ cardboard, it will sag.My first set started to after a few months.Second set i used the spring wire from the type of sunshade that unfolds itself.Going on 10 years or so w/that one. With just a bit of sag starting to creep up.

ABS plastic is the only way to go. My T-top headliner is 12 years old and still looks new, it too is made of ABS like my T-top shades from 1A Auto.
i have the orig shades that came with my FORMULA i love mine. if my tops are in so are the sun shades. mine were sagging and when i re coverd my headliner i had those done as well and had the edging done too and they look stellar still.
the RPO for them is DE4.
