My iroc has a cracked dash,Yes the dash pad also,The dash itself is the biggy.Also there is a piece at the place where the steering wheel meets the dash thats missing.This dash isn't like a 89 rs I looked at for parts.Even my arm rest are more heavy made.Instead of the bottom of the dash going all the way accross as one padded piece,it's just a plastic piece.I feel like this is a special interior.Can these only be found in iroc's?

ah ok, yea thats a stock dash, it just looks like someone has screwed up your sterring column or took the cover peices off. you should be able to score either the missing pieces, or a whole column in a jy.

im curious as to what the big black box on the bottom of the dash is...

junk yard. does the car start with the normal key? id trace the wires out and see what that is, it looks like it was an horrible idea whatever it is.

 

The standard vats key starts the engine.this box has a totaly different type of key.Our jy don't have any 3rd gens in them.I've got a recked(rearended)90firebird.but it dosnt look the same.There has got to be somthing that gose over these wires.The black box is in the way.

 

Yes, you are missing the under dash panel that covers all of the wires. It connects above the pedals and comes up to the bottom of the dash, just under the steering column.

 

firebirds IIRC, have a totally different dash than the camaros

 

that switch is either to an aftermaket alarm or a hood lock system.

 

That's correct, they look similar but in no way do the Firebird/Camaro dash pads interchange. I bet a lot of people get dissapointed in that since I see a lot of dash pads of Ebay advertised as Firebird-Camaro dash pad...

 

The firebird has a cover for the speaker and no knotch for the center air conditioning vents.
I think that the side defrost vents are a different size as well, could be wrong on that.

The camaro dash pad has the speaker holes molded in the pad (cracks love to start there)

A camaro dashpad will fit in a firebird, but a firebird dashpad will not fit in a camaro.

 

well thats not fair,I see alot more good bird pads. Back to the under panel cover,I've got a paded piece that came out of an 89 RS.Is that supposed to cover over the plastic stuff all the way to the bottom of the stering colum?I can take that black box loose and put it up for now.The 90 RS looked to be the same as the 89 RS.Sence my 89 iroc never had one when I got it I dont know how it is supposed to look.

 

OK,I've compaired the under colume area in all my cars.The 90 rs and 90 bird have the same look as the piece that I got out of what was supposed to be a 89rs.Maybe that car was a 90.Because the outside would have looked like the 89 but the interior would have been different.Oh and the 86 bird looks alot like the iroc.But it is different.
