No, most likely because it would look ridiculous.

Well, if it's a Camaro, now you gotta find somewhere to put the Radio and A/C controls. If it's a Firebird, now you just have some pod hanging below the dash.

Where would you put the E-brake? It would be in the middle of the seats, with the mechanism exposed.

all good points that would make this an option most would not bother with. Camaro guys could swap to a firebird radio pod as they do for fourth gen console swaps. Parking brake lever could have a boot added.

Or for a car like mine, which has no heat, av, stereo, or parking brake, the console is only adding shifter covering, and an arm rest, storage compartment.
New carpet sets have material to cover the entire trans tunnel as well.

Or you could do what i plan to do i want to get a toggle switch panel and you could add your controls there. As for the radio put in an aftermarket one just arrange it in a different location.Moroso 74134 - Moroso Toggle Switch Panels.....

Re: No console?

yeah...that would be pretty lame. it would lose its sporty taste as far as interior goes. the only way i could see that being useful, is if your completely over weight and your body hangs over the edges of the seats. but if your that big, maby a 3rdgen isnt the right car to be driving.

Many sports cars don't/didn't have a console.

As far as sporty taste? Look at real performance, or sports cars, nothing there that is not needed. Console=weight.

Re: No console?

a console just seems sporty because of the way it just wraps around you or craddles you. from the left having the door panel and arm rest, to behind you with the seat, and to the right of you with the console...if your refering to muscle cars, ya alot of them didnt have one, or had a very small one but that will just bring up a whole other thread about what is and isnt a muscle car, so aside from that, all the camaro and corvettes had large hugging consoles from 80's and up. vipers, ferraris, lambos, u name it, have consoles. cars with no consoles just feel like boats, or trucks kind of like an old caprice or impala ss. i HATE the inside of those. i feel like im gonna get tossed to the other side of the car when i turn

Re: No console?

Re: No console?

Seats and belts should hold you in place, not the console.

I understand what you are saying in referance to the cockpit feel.
