1983 Speedometer woes
So, I was trying to diagnose a potentially bad bulb in my guage cluster and long drawn out story cut short... the dual needle on my speedometer broke. Only the KPH side, but it snapped right off. I pulled the needle off and tried to super glue the broken back, it was so brittle, the one peice crumbled into 4 pieces before the glue set.
The car only has 85,000 on it and I am only the 2nd owner, so I'd hate to swap out the speedo unless I can swap out the odometer assembly and keep that with the car.
What are my options here? I called Hawks and they have an entire 82-84 speedo, but not just a replacement needle. They also say the one they have is faded. Could I buy an 85 and up 85MPH speedo and swap the odometers?

You can swap odometers to another 82-84 speedo, or an 85-89 speedo.

Re: 1983 Speedometer woes
Thanks for the quick reply. Another question.... Does jumping up to say a 115mph or 140mph speedo need re-gearing in the trans or anything, or is it pretty much plug and play (given that they are mechanical operation like mine of course)
