Custom sail pannels.
I've been getting started on re working the interior of my car. It may have just been me, but I have always hated the cheap material used on our sail panels. It seems like once it gets stretched out and dirty theirs no hope for it, I also never developed a fondness for 6X9's either. Any opinions on these vinyl ones I made up?

Nice job.I'm also fond of the black vinyl. I did the sail panels as you did but with 6x9 Pioneers and the over head panel as well.

Re: Custom sail pannels.
I went to a local fabric store and got one yard off of a bolt of vinyl that I liked. I used 1/8" MDF (medium density fiberboard) a jigsaw, spray adhesive, and 1/4" staples. It only took a couple hours to do. As for the clothes hooks, I did install them, but a couple inches lower to hold the contour in better. (MDF is not nearly as flexible as the soundboard GM used). Another idea that I am playing with is building small ported boxes onto the back of them with a front facing port. Since the Rockford Fosgates are free aired with this set up the bass is pretty disappointing.

I find that when upholstering with vinyl it is best to pull it tight and then fold backwards for strength (as you can see in the picture of the back). I mainly do this so there is less chance of the vinyl ripping around the staples, but in this case, it provided enough overall thickness to keep the staples from popping through the front.
