loose streering wheel

I purchase a 1989 Camaro RS and notice the streering wheel is loose moving in all direction. I will like to know how to tackel this repair are should I pruchase a complete streering colum which this guy is selling a complete streering colum out of a 1984 camaro z28 can anyone ensure me this will work if I choose this route.

Re: loose streering wheel

My 89 formula had a loose steering wheel when I got it. Ohh boy, mine was caused by 4 star screws that had worked loose inside the steering column. It is no easy situation to deal with as you have to disassemble the entire steering column down to the uv knuckle. This was my situation, you could have something else going on but you should be able to tell if its in the column, shaft or elsewhere just due to how it wiggles or moves.

I assume the issue involves more than simply tightening the steering wheel itself.
