Yup, you need the installation kit. I got mine from o'reillys and it says it can be used on the classic series too. Have him look up the part number 3196 and you should be able to find the installation kit its for GM's as new as 1996

the reason it's not listed for 90+ is simply due to the fact that it lacks an airbag which came on the 90-92 year 3rd gens. It will bolt on just the same but due to federal law which makes it illegal to replace an airbag equipped steering wheel with one that lacks one they can't say it fits for legal reasons. If you are still running the factory wheel you will need to disable the S.I.R. system by wiring a resistor of the proper resistance in line with the wires that connected to the airbag or it will set leave you with an airbag light on, rr you could remove the bulb. Do note that technically this isn't legal and will most likely cause you to fail inspection if you are in a state where it is required.

yeah that's a bummer, I wanted to get the bow tie fog light grill! What if i register it in Illinois and take the plate off in Wisconsin and if i happen to go to Illinois i just put it in the windshield on the dash? Junior Member

I keep my plate in the dash and in AK we have to have front plates as well, havent had in cop trouble but my buddy who has a dodge ram did get harrassed about it. But i think it's because on a truck it's less visible. On our cars you should be just fine
