Just curious, did anyone ever attempt to put a Firebird dash setup into a Camaro? In particular the digital dash setup that came with 1988 trans am? Is it even possible?

 

It's possible. However, it would be a ridiculous amount of work, especially with a digital dash. Even with the analog T/A dash, you have to modify quite a bit, being that the gauges are all electronic, as opposed to the mechanical cluster in the Camaro. It's not worth it, IMO.

EDIT: Realized you have a '92, so you have electronic gauges already. In that case, I'm not sure what you have to modify, but the dash will fit.

 

I'm not an advocate of putting Firebird stuff in a Camaro, but yeah... it's been done.

I just love that digital dash. Its uber futuristic.

 

I dont see why it cant be done at all. You might need to change the mounting brackets where the das mounts to the firewall but thats it. If you have a trans am dash and need the digital set up I have one for sale if interested

 

Then why not just upgrade to digital gauges? there's a lot of good stuff out there.

 

I don't have dash or brackets, and will need entire setup. Not sure If need to change center console as well. I also think I need wiring harness to set up diagnostic center.

After market Camaro digital dashes are OK, but I like the diagnostic center setup.

 

You will need the wiring and dashboard for sure. The brackets are the same except for the ones welded down by the doors. Those you just have to redrill the mount hole back a little. Everything else is a bolt in since its still a f-body. The other diference is the electronic heater controls that only came with the digital dash option but that could be substituted with regular firebird units if you had to. The diagnostic center not only requires the digital dash wires but also would require the entire body harness as well to work properly along with e few sensors that didnt come on the standard models. you could add the wires to your existing body harness and purchase the sensors easy enough if you feel comfortable wiring and can read an electrical print. Its not as hard as it sounds if you have all the parts from the donor car. If you only have the dash but want the diagnostic to work it will require some wiring for sure

 

Almost forgot. You can use any firebird center console with the digital dash, no difference. I opted for a 98 TA center console for the four cup holders.
