custom built racing seat mounts
So I looked around here a few months ago when looking for a racing seat swap. Thanks to articwhiteZ for his tutorial, I now have a seat installed and mounted with stock brackets. My only problem now is that at 6'2", I don't fit in the car right anymore. I either have to sit slouched to see through the whole windshield and kill my back, or I sit normally but my head is in the T-top well with my head pressed against the glass and terrible visibility. So, has anyone done a custom build of a bracket? I'm visiting a metal shop today to see what they can do about a custom build but I'm open to any suggestions here too.

If you didnt need sliders you could easily mount seats to floor and drop several inches in height. Just find the spot you are comfortable with and weld in new studs for seat. Stock brackets sit up pretty high. Some aftermarket ones for 4th gens may fit but i have heard most sit higher than stock. Luckily for me i am short

First thing to do is try a set of Pontiac Fiero seat brackets. I ran them with my stock seats for years because I'm 6'4" and had the same problem. Do a search and you'll find my post about them, seemed like they lowered the seat 1-2". made a big difference for dirt cheap.
Now i have a race seat in my car as well and I mounted it on the floor with custom brackets. I fit in the car comfortably even with a helmet on now.

was going through my old posts and saw I forgot to update you guys. I had the metal shop take off 1" on all the legs for the stock brackets and what a difference it made. I sit comfy and have plenty of clearance for my head. $30 well spent!
