What did or are you suing for insulation
Hi everyone I am trying to decide what insulation/ mat to put down under the carpet and on the backside of my interior plastics. What are you guys using and what are your experiences with these items?

I am talking about both sound deadener and insulation. I have completely gutted the interior and want to make the interior better than stock for sound deadening and insulation.

Re: What did or are you suing for insulation
I'm going to use some FatMat sound deadener on the floors, roof, and door panels. I found a 100sqft package on Ebay for $150 shipped. As for the insulation, I'm going to go with a high quality jute from one of the local fabric shops.

Is 100 Sq Ft enough to do all of the inside?

That's enough to cover a 5'x20' area so it should be plenty. I don't plan on covering the entire interior in it, just select areas.

Oh ok cool that should cover quite a bit then. I was thinking of ordering it then putting new insulation from third gen ranch on the back of the plastics.... That should make a huge difference compared to what was stock.

That's what I was thinking too. My '87 IROC is pretty solid, but so was my '85 Z28 and it rattled like pennies in a coffee can lol!

Re: What did or are you suing for insulation
The kit seems to be pretty good quality but I havent had time to put it in yet. Ive been busy helping get my buddy's '68 Deville convertible running right. He needs it out of his garage so we can pull the motor in his '68 Eldorado. Plus its been a little cold here and my heater is not doing the best in my garage. I know... quit making excuses and get to work lol! I will post pics when I get going on it (hopefully this weekend).

I have Dynamat Xtreme and B-Quiet as a deadener with Second Skin Audio Luxury Liner Pro on top for noise reduction

Re: What did or are you suing for insulation
I used 36.5 sq.ft (one bulk pack) of Xtreme to do the rear of the car plus have 50 sq.ft of B-quiet for the front and doors.
I'll be starting a stereo build thread in a few weeks and doing everything in stages, including all the deadening and noise reduction....with LOTs of pics.
So far just the deadening and noise reduction material has cost me around $ 950.00 CAD.

Re: What did or are you suing for insulation
Don't know if you figured out what type of sound deadener you're going to use, but I figured I would show you my results. So I bought this kit off of ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/120919500607...84.m1436.l2649) for $150, which includes shipping. You can see from the pics how much of the car I covered and I used a complete roll plus about a two foot section from the second roll. Was easy to apply and I could trim it with a pair of scissors.

Re: What did or are you suing for insulation
Im going to use the second roll to do the back of my trim panels and the doors. Have to pull my dash to get some mouse nests so im going to do higher on the firewall too.
Once you roll it down its there for good son in thinking it is going to be a good investment.
