Need new seat belts

Just got my car and it has no front seat belts. having a hard time finding replacements.

Any help would be great!

Thanks, David.

Edit: Model year is 1985, just encase that makes a difference. Also, what ever site that they are being purchased from needs to ship to Alaska for a reasonable rate.

Edit: Most sets appear to cost around $300+ Does anyone know if the rear buckles will work upfront for latching? I found a set of used retractable front straps for $100.

Re: Need new seat belts

Interior is grey, but black would work as well.

My bucklers are destroyed and the belts are missing all the retracting components. Only thing useful are the bolts.

Re: Need new seat belts

There are a couple of grey interiors. One has a bluish tint and is more common. Black is the most popular and most likely go for a premium price.
You may also notice that the plastic sheath on the buckler can be removed and possibly reused. It's not as visible so you may be able to go with a different color belt inside if you're in a bind.

FYI, it's common for the retractors to fail, or not work as well as original. Checking them outside of the car is tricky because the retractor has to be level and it's not as easy to determine the correct length it should retract to. The worn ones will sag and either get in the way, or catch in the door when you go to shut it.
Most all of the shoulder belts will have some fading but look out for too much and also wear on the edges. You'd also want the head liner trim piece included with non-broken clips.
The red buttons on the bucklers are known to fade & fail, and there is actually a recall on them, but there are mixed accounts on dealers following through on repairing them.
Well worth the read (or at least some of it. lol): >Here

I found this with a quick search but I'm not sure if it's the complete kit as I haven't needed one yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/110637782979?lpid=82
You may also be able to use bucklers from a different car and I had to do that for a while when I couldn't get the correct one.

Fourth Gen belts can also work but you would need earlier versions of the door sills for them to fit. I may have some 4th Gen belts if interested, but I'd have to look through what I have.

The reason for mentioning all of that is that you're looking to spend a great deal of money and appear to be relatively new. The first thing I would try to do is to see if there are any junk yards around, or anyone parting out a car. Not sure if there is much up there but well worth the effort to find out.
If you're lucky enough to find belts in a car locally you'll need a T-50 bit, preferably a hardened two piece as they can twist the bit.

EDIT: Sorry about the big pic in the middle, it was just supposed to be a link.

Re: Need new seat belts

Any help would be much appreciated. My budget for this car is $900 this year, and that has to include t-top rubber seals and rear brakes.

Let me know how much for parts and shipping. Wife mentioned cheapest way to ship to Alaska is flat rate box from usps, if it fits.

Re: Need new seat belts

Looks like both Pontiac and Camaro seat belts will work, from what I can gather. Maybe someone else can enlighten us.

Looking for both front belts, my rears are fine.

Re: Need new seat belts

Hey there, I found a great way to replace any of the FBODY seat belts and receptacle. When I went to the wreckers with my sample clip. What I found was that the Nissan and some Toyota's use the very same style, (but better spring inside) receptacle pieces for the seat belts! Some even use the very same clip design as the old Chevy F body. The back seat area is where they are used most, and work fine in the front seat of my car. Soo, I got some new, or next to new webbing, and resewed them with the new piece in place and it works much better than my old ones. It has never jammed up as it is the very same tongue that was in my car, so I did not have to change out that part. Another tip, old seat belt thread gets rotten, so do not assume the sewing is OK. I used a hand sewing awl that has stronger waxed thread than that used by the machine. You can also take that in and have a shoe maker sew them for you. Hand sewing takes a bit more time, but worth the effect with new materials at a 'fraction' the cost! Check it out! So glad I did!! I also could make the webbing a bit longer so that it does not jam up into the middle arm box, which is really nice not having to jam the belt into that every time. Hope this helps everyone, as it sure cuts cost, looks just as great and works better than the old ones!! Mine have been in for over a year and never had one problem. Oh, and that was all for less then 30 bucks, fixing both sides. Just sayin.
Cheers
Vicki
