Overhead Console Reinforcement
I bought a used overhead console to install in my 1988 hardtop. I found the tech article for installation tips but I was wondering, do I need the reinforcement piece that was used on the hardtop models or can I install the console without it? I have the correct console for the hardtop but I don't have that reinforcement piece.

Re: Overhead Console Reinforcement
Yours is a t-top though, as is mine, they never came with a reinforcement piece like what the OP is talking about.
I'd say that if GM actually felt the need to put it there then it's worth trying to fab something up to do the same job. (clearly alot of stuff on these cars needed more reinforcement than what was given)

Mine is a C&C t-top.C&C cars left the factory as hard tops. When I swap the interior from grey to black way back in 89.That piece was in there, just never saw a reason to put it back in.

My theory is that piece helps mold the soft stock headliner to the curve of the roof console.

Re: Overhead Console Reinforcement
So I just got my overhead console. Is there any way you could attach a link to the tech article?? I'm having problems with wireing. I don't have any wireing harness for it so I need to make one.
