carpet spray paint?

Has anyone used the spray paint made for carpets/fabrics? I have a spot or 2 I would like to cover up but I don't want to replace the whole carpet. Will it work on Sun faded seats?

SEM Color Coat. It's not really a paint but more of a dye. Comes in a ton of different factory shades. I used it on my carpet, headliner, sail panels, and sun visors and it looks great. It is not recommended for color changes, but I tried it anyway going from Saddle to Black. 2 coats and every is a nice deep black.

In this last pic I had run out of dye, had to order up another can. My camera also made it look 10x worse than it actually looked. Notice the area by the center console is not striped or wavy, still had dye left in the can at that point. Took me 3 full cans to a complete color change on all fabrics in the car. Yes it's a little stiffer than it was, but I didnt bother scrubbing the fabric while it was wet like the directions recommend either. I dont really plan on caressing my carpets anytime soon.

If you use it, use a quality product. I remember working on a truck where the guy sprayed the floor with some dupli color interior paint. i crawled out with black stains on my clothes.. Why not do it right and just get new carpet? It's fairly cheap.

Re: carpet spray paint?

Well, when I did mine I knew I didnt want to strip out the entire interior as the car is my daily driver and I knew better than to just use regular paint, which is why I did my homework and determined SEM Color Coat was the correct product to use. I also didnt want to spend hundreds of dollars replacing perfectly good carpet, sun visors, headliner and sail panels. My fabrics have spent a full year with the color change and so far, not a smudge of it has come off. It is noticeably more expensive than regular spray paint and smells more like wood stain than paint. It's also quite a bit thinner and atomizes out of the can better than a spray paint does, so you get a nice even coat. All I can say is that this stuff really works as advertized.

That's what I was worried about the color coming out on your cloths.

Re: carpet spray paint?

Well, like I said, one year later and not a mark on me or my wife. Only thing I would be skeptical on is the seats. It really does stiffen up the fabric a bit and is noticeable to the touch that something is on there. I used a scrub brush on my sun visors to try to soften them up a bit, which did work to a point, but I wouldnt do the seats if it were my car. But for parts you arent touching constantly like carpets, it looks great.

Re: carpet spray paint?

Search Google for SEM Color Coat. After price shopping I found the best deal on Ebay with Amazon being a close 2nd in price plus shipping.
