4th gen black leather seats... really black or more grey?

Before I drive two hours to buy a set of black leather seats out of a 2000 Firebird I was wondering... are they really BLACK or are they that newer greyish-black that new cars have?

I just can't be sure from the pics!

Ehhhh, yeah, that's what I thought. Really not what I'm looking for.

Though I bet finding 3rd gen black seats in good shape is laughable haha

Were there any that were actually black?

This auction is listed as 'ebony':

Re: 4th gen black leather seats... really black or more grey?

2000-02 are Ebony. Not quite Black, but nonetheless the darkest color you could get in a 4th gen. There was no true Black interior color for 4th gens, just different shades of dark grays. Lakerman62, if it makes you feel better, I thought my '02 had a Black interior until I was told otherwise and compared it to a true Black interior.

Also, keep in mind that later (98-up) non-T/A's were restricted to the (IMO) uglier and less comfortable non-lumbar leather seats like the ones in the photos. Lumbar leather seats were optional on all 1993-02 T/A's. I've only seen a handful of 1993-97 Firebird/Formula cars that had the lumbar seats, which were also available in cloth on the earlier cars. Most 98-up T/A's have the optional lumbar seats.

Re: 4th gen black leather seats... really black or more grey?

there was a 95 Camaro being parted out on Clist in Vancouver Wa near me & I went to see it/purchased strut tower brace. Anyways, he was selling the interior and it was very black & definitely a 4th gen camaro interior & I was wishing I hadn't just bought the dark grey seats I have in my 4th gen as they were more grey than black, anyways I guess it's just shades of gray....................

Its ebony, or charcoal however you want to call it. I got some out of a 2002 T/A for my 1987, they were advertised as black, but you could see they were ebony when they got here. Now, does it really stand out in our cars? well, if you had a TOTALLY black interior it would. But i had a black and tan interior, and it works ok. But no, they are not really true black.

quite frankly, i LOVE the way my 4th gen seats look, vs the 3rd gen ones. Could always get some 4th gen seats and re-cover them in black......
