I am feeling the waters to see if anyone would be interested in these. They are reproductions of the airbag stickers that are on the headliner. I have had them reproduced at work and they are on waterproof adhesive vinyl. The finish on the vinyl is not exact. I have had this installed in my car for 3 months, and there is no bleeding or peeling. I was looking for $10 shipped. What do you think.

I am aware that these stickers are available through other outlets. From what I have seen, these sites charge WAY too much for a sticker. I am looking to offer these for basiclly my cost plus shipping. I am not looking to make a profit. I am trying to help people restoring their 3rd gens and keep costs down.

 

I posted that link for a correct licensed replacement door sticker,.
They don't have the airbag decal. Yours looks great and is way more than a fair price.
I may get some of your decals for my cars.

 

How do I get one? My car doesn't have airbags, but I might upgrade to a 4th gen wheel and 4th gen radio at some point so I would like to have one.

 

I would need at least 5 people interested for it to be cost effective. To produce just 1 or 2, would cost me more then I would get back.

What do you mean by the "vinyl is not exact"? How off is it? I saved mine from my headliner and planned on having a local shop reproduce it for me exactly, along with half a dozen other various originals decals I've saved. If yours is 99% close, I'll take one as I'm sure that will be less than what the sign shop will charge me lol.

 

IIRC, the original decal is a paper like decal, his is vinyl? It would look better in the long run I'm sure.

 

The vinyl that I was able to get is more of a matte finish, while my OEM is more of a satin finish.

 

Unless it changed somewhere along the way, mine was vinyl and it was the original.

 

They were printed in 89 for the 90 cars and I have one in my garage that is a paper like material. I'll have to check my newer cars.

 

Mine is a Oct '91 build and it's for sure paper, it sure seems that way to me anyway.

 

I will post a pic of my original vinyl one. I am working with a distributor now of 3M vinyl replacement. The samples I have cut are on HP vinyl. I am looking for an exact repalcement. I know for SURE that my vinyl sticker was original. It was very thin, 1 or 2mil and ot may look like paper. Like I said, I dont know if they changed the material at some point.

I was just looking at my headliner today and thinking about replacement or new fabric. I saw the airbag sticker and was wondering if there were replacements available anywhere, and then I logged on here and saw this.

If you make a batch, I'll take one.

 

I actually bit the bullet and have a batch of 10 that i am picking up on Monday. I will post when they are ready and if the quality is right.

Amazing how discolored mine is for a car that has never once had a cig smoked inside it lol. Must be the Bakersfield air with the t-tops off for months at a time every year

So... I forgot to update, that the new batch is on sale. The "New and Improved" labels are latex printed on permanent adhesive vinyl. There is no quality difference on the printing, just a better overall quality product.

Looks good only one constructive suggestion - the adhesive needs to be stronger. It's been peeling back every couple of days at the corners. The headliner is new with no grease or residue. When I get some time, I'm going to apply contact cement to it which should fix it for good.

 

Wow... thats very surprising. The adhesive is a permanent style. I am going to put the sales on hold until I can get an answer or solution. I have had mine on for over 6 months with no problem. Let me know via PM if I can do anything for you.

Alright... the stickers are back UP FOR SALE. I have not heard anymore negitive feedback, and did some "quality" testing over the past 2 months. I ended up putting 4 stickers on the liner of my '03 Silverado. The truck has been driven with AC on, sat unused in 90 degree heat for a week, and I even cleaned the headliner around and on the sticker. No issues.
If you order, and have any issues, I will send out a replacement. While supplies last.

Where does this sticker go? I got my '92 from my brother who was the original owner. He had the headliner replaced before I got the car. From the pics it appears that it is attached to the headliner so that when the sun visor is up the sticker is not seen.

 

You are correct. This is the way it is on the hardtops. I believe on the t-top and verts, they are actually on the back of the visor.

Not that I own one anymore, but do you think it would be possible to get the sticker that's inside the t-top storage bag (ROOF STOWAGE INSTRUCTIONS label)? I had contacted a guy years ago about it and he up and disappeared... I don't know if I still have mine from my original bag (with the bad zipper) but if I do I could send it...

 

I am not up for doing it right now. But, If there was enough interest, and if I could get an original, I would consider it.

Finally got my sticker today in spite of the post office. I never got it the first time and it was returned to Stauf marked "return to sender"! Stauf went overboard to send it to me a second time!!! The sticker looks great and I'm very glad to have it for my car.
