6way power seat INOP How do I remove?
6way power seat INOP How do I remove?
Ok I have a 6 way power seat on a 84 Camaro and the seat will not move any direction. I can remove the front two nuts but since the seat is all the way back I can't get to the back two nuts for removal. How can you manually move the seat forward when your seat is doesn't work under power?

You can remove the front seat screws from the track, then lean the seat back and get the back ones.
I looked at my spare track and with all the Black Track Plastic trim,it looks like a PITA.If I were you I would bolt down the track again, then remove the seat from the track.I can't see any kind of release on my track,Good Luck

You'll have to find some way to move the "screws" that move the seat. There are two of them hooked into the motor. It will probably be a huge pain. It might be easier to try to take the seat off the track itself.

Thanks for the reply. Trust me I have tried everything possible. I know that GM had to design a way to manually move the seat in the event the seat was inop. There is no way I can get to the two back screws because the seat is all the way back.

That's a bummer,I looked at mine in the car and it's tight,If the trim wasn't in the way it might be a little easier.Try and remove the side panel(switch side)then you can get to the motor bolts, remove the motor, that will give you some room to get a wrench back there.Give it a try.
This is what your going to see with the side panel removed.Remove the bracket bolt(1)then those 2 smaller ones holding the cable lines.

Yeah, try to bypass the switch if you haven't already. If the vehicle has the original seat track. It is not like the one in the pic, that's the later design.84 would have three motors in the center with cables going to each side.Which in turn rotate a worm type screw. You will need to detach that screw to slide the track manually. There should be a c-clip on one end & you may need to turn the screw by hand....tedious.

Thanks for the responses. I was able to get three nuts off and the forth one that is located on the left rear. with three of the nuts off I was able to bend the seat over far enough to get the nut off. Now I need to fix the seat and find some plastic base covers that I broke.

I would bet you had a bad switch or connection. I don't think I have ever had a power seat track that didn't work at all..Normally just bad in one direction or another..Glad you got it out though
