Finally found some correct fabric for a restoration project that I've been looking for a while now. So I compared it to what is actually on the car and the diagonal fabric that is on the seats and door panels is pretty much dead on. The color is a tad darker than what is factory but then again it is 25 years old so it is a little faded. The other fabric which is the fabric that is on the seat backs and head rests and so on is a tad darker also but seems a little thinner than the original fabric but the original fabric probably has some foam on the backside to give it some depth. So it will be good when the upholstery guy tackles recovering the seats and adds a thin layer of foam backing to the fabric. Also got a carpet sample that seems to be spot on. So... We'll see.
Yeah.. I really love it myself. I just cant get myself to pull the trigger on buying enough to recover all of the seats. Only the driver side is worn (with a 1/8" burn hole) but if I do one, I feel like the rest won't match. When I got the sample from them LY, they were at $90 per yard. And I havent been able to get a good answer as to how much I would need.
I was going to buy a bunch and send it to Covergirl, and have her make me a set, and store them until they were REALLY needed. No way to know when SMS will finally run out or lose their supplier.
Yea. Give them a call and place an order. If they do run out they should be able to make some more as long as they have something to go by. They made some houndstooth for me a couple of years when I was working on one of my other projects. About got all my mechanical stuff taken care of. Then time for paint and interior. Will post some pics later when it gets close.
