Side mirror question

My newly purchased 88 Iroc has a power driver side mirror that is not connected and does not have the interior switch. The previous owner gave me a spare side mirror, one with the manual ****. The car already has the bezel for the manual ****, and I'd like to use that mirror instead.

My question is, is there some kind of retaining pin to keep the **** in place on the bezel? I know that the older gens used a "U" shaped retaining pin, but I'm unsure of the third gen. Any help would be great. Instead of rigging something up, I'd like to try and get the stock part.

Re: Side mirror question

I did more searching and finally came up with something. This bezel listed on ebay includes a retaining clip. I'm assuming this is what I need.

Re: Side mirror question

The clip is what you need. Locks into a slot on the raised back of the bezel with a 90 degree turn. 30 year old plastic can be kind of fragile, take your time, get the ball on the control stick all the way in the socket.

Yep, I sometimes remove them with a needle nosed pliers. Grab it on the sides and give it a turn. Same way installing them. (x2 on the plastics being brittle.)

Re: Side mirror question

Thanks so much for clarifying for me, guys. I feel that this part will be an absolute pain to find by itself. So far I've only found that one listed with the bezel for $19. I mean, worst come to worst I pay $19 for a little metal clip but I have a spare bezel.

Oh, and definitely agree on the brittle plastic. I went to change a taillight bulb a few weeks ago and the plastic wingnuts that screw onto the taillights literally just fell apart when I touched them.

Any idea where I can find this part?
