Dome light wont turn off
So after a few months of not having it work due to a lack of a bulb and a bent bracket, my 84 firebird hasn't had an interior light since I got it. Yesterday I finally got the lightbulb and put it in only to discover that it doesn't turn off. Anyone have any ideas why this may be?

Push them in and out. If they don't move then they are probably the problem. My driver's side was stuck a long time ago to where the door didn't activate the light. Super easy to check and fix. That's where I'd start.

Re: Dome light wont turn off
Ran into this same problem on my 92. The drivers door was not pushing the pin in far enough to break contact and turn the dome light off. To see if you have the same problem, grab a helper and open both doors. Each of you push in a pin to make sure the light goes off. If it does, one or both pins are your problem. If it stays in, you've got a wiring problem(short) somewhere. Assuming the light goes off keep holding one pin in, say the drivers side, and close the passenger door. If the light stays off, your passenger door pin is good. If it stays on, then you need to look at that pin closer. Even if it stays on, do the same test on the other(drivers) door, just to verify you don't have a problem with both pins.

This happened in light in the trunk once... I just disconnected the battery for the night (originally because it was late and I figured I'd deal with it the next day) and when I reconnected it it was fine again.

Re: Dome light wont turn off
That was a fluke, just got lucky timing there.
Try turning the headlight **** like you are dimming the dash lights while you are sitting in the car with the doors shut. So that's clockwise. Turning it all the way counter clockwise you will feel sort of a soft click. That's cutting the light on to read a map or whatever people did before self light smartphones lol.
