i cut 2 holes with a dremel and mounted my window switches in front of my shifter and cut a hole on the side of my console to mount my mirror switch.

Great idea, but why did you not keep it facing front to back? I could be wrong, but in my head I was thinking down adjusts left and up adjusts right.
I guess things like this makes the world go around! That a 93-97 console?

Never thought of that spot before is it a pain to reach while driving and does the shifter get in the way ofter ??? did u have to extend the wiring for the switches at all also what did u do about the cig lighter i like to use that as a charge port for my phone i noticed that there was 2 on the 98-02 how do i go about wiring to use both of them ????

Re: 4th gen firebird center console

Brutal: believe it or not when i go to adj the mirror it actually feels natural as if it were in the stock location. yesir, 93-97.

soarestransam: yes, the wires had to be extended. as for ease of access, the shifter rest between my thumb and pointer finger and the pointer does the operating with no issue, that is when its in 1st or 3rd.

as for the cig lighter, it connects the same as factory and i use mine as a charge port as well. the only way i can think of setting up 2 ports is to run a wire from the fuse panel and find a suitable ground to pwr the 2nd port.

Re: 4th gen firebird center console

Ok sorry for the late reply im using 98-02 console but im in dying need of a shifter boot and the nortorious retainer rin that breaks was wondering if someone out there has made a aftermarket one out of steel or a harder plastic so i wont break, i need to clean then paint the console before test fitting it into the car though im gonna use that location in the pics above seems like a nice spot for the power mirrors ill prob find a different spot for it

Re: 4th gen firebird center console

when I had my bird, I used Ford Taurus Window Switches (google the conversion wiring), then moved the mirror switch to the front ( granted it had to be placed sideways). It turned out nice and clean.

Re: 4th gen firebird center console

That is neat never thought about using those from a taurus (what year taurus) like the spot that it is in as well much better then up front since the shifter would get in the way
