My RHD Dash is Done :)

Hey Guys,

Just putting some finishing touches on the interior after my dash transplant from a 2004 VY Commodore.
Some minor modifications and trims were needed for some of the pieces but I got it in there finally.

I also managed to wire in the dash harness and splice into the body harness, so I have a working BCM, PIM, and gauges to go with the OBD2 Conversion for my SBC400 motor with 0411PCM.

Re: My RHD Dash is Done :)

Thanks.
I still want to make a custom center to mount the screen in along with the GPS, but that'll be later

Holy crap. What steering box did you use. Was there a build thread on this, sorry I'm new to forums still trying to find my way around the site. Is there A/C under that dash.

The build is under about 20 different threads over 5 years haha. I wasn't sure I'd ever get it done. I'll make up a more complete thread when I get a chance.

I believe the box is a Holden HQ steering box, but not quite sure as the RHD conversion had already been done when I bought the car. The steering column is from a VY Commodore, and then I just made the linkages up.

LX_SS on here has a thread on his that is a ground up build with a lot more attention to detail paid, and was very helpful in getting mine finished, look up "Unique RHD LS1" and it should come up.

The steering column needed the mounts cut off and re-welded about 2 inches further up to get everything to line up, and I lost the tilt function in the process, but still have adjustability from the mount bolts and spacers.

Then the linkage has the unijoint on the VY column end, 18" of DD shaft guided by a support bearing mount on a bracket, and the uni-joint on the connector to the box.

Everything needed a little modification to work, but it's all in there now and working.

The wiring was probably the hardest part and required a LOT of hours with a multimeter tracing and labelling everything.

Re: My RHD Dash is Done :)

No A/C as yet, I'm going to put an aftermarket kit on once the car is on the road. LX_SS did a whole commodore firewall cut so he mounted the HVAC unit form that directly on.

After joining I can't believe the level of custom and homemade things are being done. I love mine and love seeing people love theirs. Never thought I'd see what you've done, badass.

Re: My RHD Dash is Done :)

Yeah there's some pretty awesome stuff on here.

My proudest part of mine so far was modifying the bumper to fit my kitt scanner
