Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

I have Googled this question and found a german company that claims their harnesses are DOT approved.

My main goal is to eliminate the stock belts. And just use 4 or 5 point harnesses. I plan to drive the car to work and shows so i will need to pass MA inspection.

Car will have a 4 point bar and no back seat.

Every day driving with a harness sucks. Have you ever used one?

Re: Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

Yes, I have had 5 points in my car for about 3 years. For what i do with the car, they are fine. The seats i have make the stock belts rub my neck, not ok. So for this build, i want to get rid of the stock belts for a cleaner look.

Orr: do you have any pics, or what part number you have installed? How are they mounted? How long have you had them? Do you have to pass a state safety inspection where you live?

Re: Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

Well they dont give me any fuss about them. They are extremely easy to get in and out of. Use a stock style seat buckle basically. Slips on like a back pack lol

Its technically 3 point. Two sides bolt to where stock belts go. shoulder harness then tee's into a single attachment i run over the roll bar then down to where the rear seat buckets are, using stock anchor point and bolt where stock rear seat belts are attached

Works great and was per the instructions

Re: Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

Love it! Amazing. Def going to do the same. Screw stock belts.

Looks very clean.

So the rear belts go to just one anchor point?

I like the seats by the way. What is the track mounting situation down there?

I have some crap Tenzo R seats I bought 13 years ago I am not in love with that I welded brackets to the stock tracks. Never seemed like the safest thing. Would love to hear what a "good" setup is. (Yours looks good!)

Re: Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

I made tabs to bolt to stock seat rails which then bolted to the seats bracket. Works great. I am only 5'9" so no height issues but i can see it being a problem for tall guys.

First pic you can see the rear harness goes over the bar then down to rear seat bucket where stock belt anchor point was.

Or you can go over bar and back up to the upper portion of the seat belt region. Its up to you.

Re: Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

I think I understand what you are saying, but to be clear, you bolted the shoulder belt to the stock rear seat belt location mounted on the tranny tunnel right?

Perfect. Thanks for all the info.

I will pick some up when the time comes.

Are those seats worth the price? Comfortable?

Re: Are there any DOT rated harnesses?

Let me know when you want to sell. I may be willing to pick them up from you.

I have an old set of 5 point cam lock, too bad they are expired...
