Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
Hey Guys
Trying to figure out a good combo for a white Trans am with gold ground effects. I have looked through many photos including the "White Thirdgens" thread on here but most pics are of the outside of the car (duh) focising on the body color. If anyone has some overviews that show the interior color well along with the White/Gold body (or even white) I would greatly appreciate you posting them. Hard to visualize anything other than the tan interior that I have seen (car currently is a shell with no interior to start with).
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
Car came with tan interior based on the records I have from PHS but the car is a rolling shell so I am debating whether to find a tan interior or a different color since I need the entire interior.

dmccain and mantaguy:
Any pictures from outside the car? Kind of like what you would see walking up to it at a show if that makes sense. Thats the kind of angle I'd love to see to help make the decision, all the pics I have are tan interiors from the shows lol
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
Paint the gfx body color and use gray. Gray is by far the most common interior color, it's the most consistent from year to year, Camaro to Firebird, and it's affordable.
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
I think a black interior would look great in a white w/gold Trans Am, and it would give the car a touch of the classic black-n-gold Trans Am color scheme. And for a custom touch, do tan inserts in the black seats(like where it's gray in mantaguy's seats, shown in his pic above), and it will pull it all together, as well as accent the classic scheme even more.
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
Leaning towards getting a tan interior to put in the car and I know there are 3 iterations of tan colors 82-84, 85-87, and 88+ . What are the color differences between the 3? Not names but the shades, i.e. lighter/ darker than the others.
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
So I found out that the parts we have from a donor car are not the same white as the car is now so i am looking at the prospect of painting the car with the good body parts on it so everything matches. I think we are going to be going with the grey/black parts we already have and possibly pick up a tan interior in the future.
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
If you are starting completely from scratch and have no vested interest in any color, I'd say go a completely different route and pay homage to the earlier Firebirds by using a Blue interior. I think it'd look pretty bitchin' and make your car different from other thirdgens.
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
I have a 1985 white trans am with gold trim exactly like the picture, my interior is carmine red if that helps. I know this is an old post, but that's what I have!

As I found out the hard way, there's a fourth variation of tan on the '92 Firebird, light beige. It's a one-year-only shade and tough to find. Most don't even know it exists...unless you own a '92 Firebird w/ a tan interior.
Re: Trying to Decide Interior Color for White Trans Am
I was going to vote gray (for the reasons Drew listed) and then I saw the pics of the blue interiors. Blue would be really cool.
I have no idea what blue would cost...
Gray is still my second choice.
Black has a place on the dashboard (to minimize your dash reflecting in the windshield) and I don't like it anywhere else in the car.

My 86 Camaro was white with carmine interior. When we painted the car I went with a Pearl White. Combination looks good IMOP. I haven't recovered the seats yet, but did respray the Carmine interior panels.

Found that out the hard way after I bought my '92 T/A. Its just enough different to make it a pain in the butt to find replacement parts.
