Radio Delete
I just installed one of the NOS radio delete plates i have on my 87. The other one on it had a scratch so i put a new one on. Thought id share a picture so anyone could see what its supposed to look like if you have the UL5 RPO code.

Same way I ordered mine - and the way it will be restored.
Did you install a blue tooth receiver or some other hidden stereo for tunes?

I use a JBL Flip3 bluetooth speaker, connect to my phone and set it on the back seat usually.

Re: Radio Delete
A/C although included in most of the packages could be deleted and some did - I owned an 88 a couple of years ago that was built that way - even had block off plates in the far left & right dash vents. Heaters have been required under federal regulations since the 60's due to the need for windshield defrosters - so no, heater delete was not available.

My Great Aunt bought a new Montego in '73. She was retired and living in Florida, so she ordered it with A/C, but without heater. Being from Illinois, and all car guys (Dad and 3 boys) we were always quite fascinated by that. So at least as late as '73 you could still mix and match with some manufacturers.

Re: Radio Delete
A/C includes a defroster function and most modern vehicles will turn on the A/C Compressor when the defroster is selected.
I believe the Defroster function was required as part of the first of many Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) that became effective in 1967
There are examples of cars built after 1967 that did not have defrosters or A/C systems but they are most often found to be export models or those shipped to dealers in exempt areas such as Puerto Rico & Hawaii - there is a notable 1969 Judge that was built heater delete and shipped originally to Puerto Rico.

S4.2 Each passenger car windshield defrosting and defogging system shall meet the requirements of section 3 of SAE Recommended Practice J902 (1964) (incorporated by reference, see § 571.5) when tested in accordance with S4.3, except that “the critical area” specified in paragraph 3.1 of SAE Recommended Practice J902 (1964) shall be that established as Area C in accordance with Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 104, “Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems,” and “the entire windshield” specified in paragraph 3.3 of SAE Recommended Practice J902 (1964) shall be that established as Area A in accordance with § 571.104.
