Anyone installed sunvisors from different cars?
I'm redoing by headliner and visors soon and I've always been a bit unimpressed by the stock Camaro visors. I ask this because the best sunvisors I've ever had were in my '94 S-10 Blazer. It had a high quality main visor with lighter mirror and a slide-out plastic secondary visor to block the sun from the rear view mirror area. And if you needed the main visor on the side window there was a 3rd fixed visor that you could use for any remaining glare in the main windshield. The mounts look very similar. Anyone have any experience with making something else work? The pic is from a 1995+ Blazer.

As long as the bolt holes line up and they are the same length then it should work. Most of your little plastic bits like that, rear view mirrors, glove box latches, etc, are a common piece used across multiple models (and makes!). Do some junkyard digging and see what you can come up with.

I figured as much but I was hoping someone had actually done it. I would think if there was a plug and play option to get really nice sun visors from another GM vehicle that somebody would have already talked about it but I couldn't find anything. People seem content with our cheap little stock visors haha.

Why not just use the camaro bracket and rod. Slide it out of the visor and slide the new visor on. As long as the diameter of the rod is the same or close, it should work.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

I thought about that too but I'm no more sure of the Camaro rod being compatible than I am the mount with the new visors screwing right in. Most of the GM visors with the 3 screw triangle mounts look the same online but you never know until you try it I guess.

Re: Anyone installed sunvisors from different cars?
Just an update...I installed the 2005 Impala visors and I'm really impressed. (ignore the headliner. That's the next update) Camaro visors are $100 give or take and they're crap even when new so I figured I'd try something from this century. The 2005 Impala ones were perfect condition, had a mirror, slide out secondary visor and had that padded quality feel.
A few things I noticed. The bolt pattern looks the same as oem but it is not. The Impala mounts themselves are about the same size but the bolt pattern makes a smaller triangle. Because of that, 1 screw hole from the mount will be within the large hole in the center. I reused the hole closest to the rearview mirror, drilled a new bottom hole and left the outside hole without a screw. It's perfectly sturdy without it but once I replace the headliner I'll fashion up a plate to allow all three screws to attach. I did pull out the rod and push in the oem rod which fit just fine, although much shorter, but it was then that I realized that my rod was permanently loose within the mount which was why my visors were always flopping whichever way they wanted. So, I decided to use the Impala hardware which held tight no matter where I put them. If you want to use the lighted mirror you have to use the hollow Impala hardware anyway so I figured I might hook that up at some point in the future. The 2 screw-in retainer clips that hold the visors at the rearview mirror end aren't necessary but may make the setup look more complete. I'll see once the headliner is off if the ceiling will accommodate the screws at that position.
Sorry for such a long post for just sunvisors but I think these really help bring the interior into this century.

The vehicles with a map light rearview mirror had an always hot orange wire running up the drivers side A pillar along with a white wire (ground that goes to the door ajar switch) and a black ground. Even if you don't have a map light mirror you may get lucky and have the wiring ran up there with the connector tucked above the headliner. If not the harness was probably wired for it and has the connector for that section of wiring some where in the vicinity of the fuse box.
