ISO GPS Speed Sensor and Trip Recorded
ISO GPS Speed Sensor and Trip Recorded
I have a non obd-2 vehicle that the odometer stopped counting and my fuel gauge never worked so I would fuel up off of mileage. Don’t fill like messing with a whole bunch of wires and junk so I’m just fixing to get a GPS Speed Sensor unit that can plug into cig lighter or I can hard wire in and a tach that can save mileage trips. My actual speedometer on the vehicle still works so I’m not as much worried about knowing my speed, just need to keep a tab on mileage.

The best solution to your problem would be to purchase a good working gauge cluster and replace the fuel tank sending unit. The factory gauge cluster along with the fuel level sending unit have a reputation of going bad after a number of years. Replacing the gauge cluster is an easy 30 minute swap for a novice. Replacing the fuel level sending unit is also doable by the novice with normal automotive tools, a good jack and jack stands and two full days. If you take it to a professional shop I have heard it to be in the neighborhood of $800.
If you do have a 1992 RS as your avatar shows, it would be a big undertaking to replace the factory cluster with aftermarket gauges unless you meant you just wanted to have some Speedometer that you would screw to the dash, than sure just buy whatever you want and make a plug for it that connects it to the cig. lighter. Just be warned that that is a very lazy solution and if that's your solution you should probably consider just selling this car and moving onto something a bit newer as these cars are going to present you with many more issues and needed repairs.

You are posting about doing a lazy band-aid repair and you are offended when someone calls it a lazy solution? Nothing I said was a personal comment at you, your abilities or your vehicles. Re-read my post. I called the solution lazy.
Doubtful but even if so I really don't care.
