Missing courtesy lights in the floor?

I searched, but couldn't find a definitive answer or maybe I missed it somewhere. On my 90 Formula, there are no floor dome lights? On the passenger side, there is a cut-out for one in the panel, but no wiring, no socket! Found this out when I did the heater core. I haven't had a chance to inspect the driver's side, but I noticed no lights in the floor the first time I had it out at night. Thought I was going to replace some bulbs, but did GM just do away with it in 90? My 89 has them!

You guessed it. 90 up firebirds don't have them.

That's outrageous. I'm writing to GM.

Is there an easy way to add one? I grabbed the wires & socket from a car in a junkyard. I was thinking of splicing the wires of the socket into the wires for the door jam switch. Thoughts?

Re: Missing courtesy lights in the floor?

Well, that's interesting. Kind of makes me wonder why that was deleted. Both my 82 and 89 have the interior nice and lit up at night, the 90, not so much. That one light in the headliner just isn't much when you are used to having two in the floor. I'm strict about keeping this car stock as much as possible, so I won't be adding it. Thanks for the info!

It's really easy to add the lights. Just grab a white and orange from anywhere in the ctsy circuit. The socket is already on the passenger's side, the driver's side panel on airbag cars doesn't have the socket for the light, but they do have a round hole with no obvious purpose. I glued in a socket salvaged from another panel, and away I went.
