Ignition Key resistance

I have a 1989 Formula 350. It came with only one key. How do I find out what the resistance is of the chip in the key so I can have a spare made? Any information is greatly appreciated. I am new to this VATS thing.

Measure the resistance with a volt ohm meter.

Or you can go to a GM dealer and they have a machine which reads the key and shows which number of key it it.
