I'm wondering if anyone has installed a C4 Steering wheel on their 3rd gen or has seen it done and got the airbag to work. I'm not a fan of my 1991 steering wheel at all. Looking around, I've taken a liking to the wheel that comes on the 1991 corvette. I think it would look right at home in the TA interior.

 

should bolt right up. also the airbag should use the same plug and ohm rating as the 3rd gen. i have not personally seen it done but lookin at pics of one without the airbag and having some basic knowledge of airbag stuff i think it should work no problem.

 

Maybe, but there's a special place in purgatory for people who put Corvette branded items on non-Corvettes, and it's still a first generation airbag that is more likely to put you in the hospital than the accident that sets it off.

 

Agreed. And it's not a great steering wheel (design), at that.

 

The wheel will get redone. It won’t have the corvette logo on it after I’m done.

 

For a time period correct wheel, it’s the best I’ve seen. Show me something better that goes with the era and I’ll consider that as well. I’m open to suggestions.

Ive thought about disabling the airbag all together.

Disable and use a 1986-1989 Corvette steering wheel. It's thick, and in my experiences, and much better feel

 

Not a fan of that one. Was looking for a wheel with a bag(which I can disable) just to keep keep the overall look the same as the factory. My choice after this is the 87-89 TA wheel with the square center and horn buttons. I have that one ready to go but I'm not 100% set on it.

 

Gotcha. I'd go with the 87-89 TA wheel. I have the leather wrapped one in my GTA. It came with the car, as optioned w/ leather wrap and is pretty thick.

 

That looks good! Thats the one I have laying around. Ill try both and post some pics.
