I’ve searched, but I haven’t found the answer I’m looking for. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around this.
How do I align the reversing switch between the tabs on a 1992 Camaro pull down motor assembly? Should the switch be in the up or down position? How far should I thread the gear onto the assembly?
Re: 1992 Hatch pull down questions. Is Lon around?
It's a reversing switch. It trips the switch at either end of travel. Without digging one out and looking at it, I'd imagine it shouldn't matter which position the switch is in when you install it. As soon as you connect the power, the motor is going to run to whichever position the switch is in, either up or down. So if you assemble the pulldown in the down position and the switch is in the up position, it'll just kick on and come up until it stops. If the pulldown is in the up position and the switch is in the down position, when you close the hatch it'll pull down. Knowamean?

Right. I’ve got that much. How do I align it with the pull down? Do I set it in the middle of the tabs? I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to get it set correctly. It’s either too high or too low.

The flip part of the reversing switch has to be between the 2 tabs on the metal slide otherwise it won’t function.Doesnt matter if the flip switch is up or down as long as it’s between the 2 tabs. You can always adjust the flip switch with a small screwdriver if it’s not correct. Try to set it up so that when you put in the switch it is in between the tabs.Ive done it a few times and it’s fairly simple

Quick question. I have a 91 that was missing the pull down assembly ... the later style. I installed it and it works with the key to pop it up. It will raise and lower hatch, and stop. When you use the hatch release button ... it will raise the motor, but it won't pop the latch. Is there a lever or something I missed when I put t together?
Pics would be helpful.
Mark.
PS. The hook on the hatch also changed designs?
