Never seen this before!

OK so I'm new here and looked around for a place for electrical issues or the sort but only found this "Interior" section for the closest thing since my issue is in the interior here I am.

Anyway, I just bought this car went to Henderson, NV and picked it up Friday (from NM) drove it to Pahrump, NV to visit family and then trailer-ed it home yesterday. Well now all of a sudden the interior lights are on a steady flash and all but killed the battery and it wont stop. There is clearly enough battery to keep them flashing but not even enough to start the car.

Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Its JUST like the Flashers when they are on in the since that is what it sounds like and does only its the interior lights flashing instead of the exterior light flashing.

Thank you...

Oddball electrical gremlins such as you describe are usually caused by one or more loose/corroded/missing ground connections. A good place to start looking would probably be under the instrument panel.

What kind of vehicle are we talking about here ? Cause if it's a Jeep (the "CJ8" in your user name is why I'm asking) then I doubt anyone here will have your answer since this forum only covers 1982 - 1992 Chevy Camaro / Pontiac Firebird cars .

Thank You for the answer , and I had the same thought as NoEmissions84TA about the aftermarket alarm system , although those usually flash the car's exterior lights you never know how it was hooked up (or the skill level of whoever the previous owner had wire it in) .

Re: Never seen this before!

Thanks to All you guys... And no problem OB I was trying not to be too humorous . The guy I bought the car from is a Mechanical Engineer and says he did it himself... Anyway he didn't remember the model number but said its an AudioVox and the Fobs are broken, said they are sensitive and break easily. Which doesn't surprise me, back in my day (80's) AudioVox didn't sell anything worth anything. C rated stereo stuff at best.

I think thats got to be it as well... I'm going to see if I can find it in there...

Re: Never seen this before!

It's probably an Audiovox protector pro-9242. They were actually a pretty good alarm. I sold thousands (No, really, Thousands.). To dealerships back in the day. They had a kidney bean shaped remote where the key ring loop broke off easily. They updated the remote in 1995 to a sturdier design. I probably have a pair of new ones laying around, if you want some. They are super easy to program, using the valet/program switch.
